What is the range (without walls)? Can I use it at about 8-10 feet?

Im not sure of the exact range, but I play my PC from my sofa and its a good 8ft away from my rig and I've had no issues with it. My only gripe is that there dont appear to be any indicator lights (i.e. caps lock, num lock, etc..)

does this use batteries or does it recharge??

batteries: 2xAAA in keyboard. 1 AA in mouse
