Pros: Fast and inexpensive and is the retail version with cable and generic software. Installed in minutes and works perfectly.

Cons: No light scribe but I usually do not buy the discs anway.

Pros: Affordable, quiet, and trouble free drive.

Cons: The promised Nero software is rubbish. It's the trial version or limited version of Nero and doesn't do much. I'd rather they included an older Nero full version or don't promise me Nero at all. They lost an egg for the poor Nero version.

Overall Review: Several people have complained about noise with this drive. Maybe I got lucky, but this drive is by far the most quiet drive I've ever used. It works great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Pros: works great. burns all that i need it too. works with Win7, did not install with this drive though so no comment on that issue.

Cons: loud. surprised that's not something i read much of on the reviews. i would expect an HP to be quiet, but it's only a tiny bit quieter than my outgoing 7yo Lite On drive. (that drive still works, i just wanted SATA and hopefully a quieter drive)

Overall Review: i think its a re-branded Lite On drive. not entirely a bad thing, Lite On makes a quality drive, they are just loud. i didnt notice it until i got this drive that it looks just like the drives in the Lite On pictures on this site, save the front panel that says "HP" on it.

Pros: It's read any and all dvds and cd's i've thrown at it and done so quietly.

Cons: didnt come with lightscribe, but thats really just a superficial feature for me.

Pros: Worked well at first, and was very fast

Cons: It died after only about 5 months of not-so-heavy use. I am pretty disappointed. Before it died it started only reading certain kinds of discs, for example movie dvd's but not game cd's and so on...

Overall Review: I would recommend going for something of a little higher quality. I am not very impressed with HP products. As far as DVD writers, I will choose LG next time

Pros: Should have been great.

Cons: Out of the box, is not recognized as being a writable device. I've built and fixed many, many computers, and this one is defective from day one. Reading works, but that's the easy part. By the time I pay shipping back to Newegg, that's half the price of the drive. Knew I should have bought locally for this very reason.

Overall Review: Online shopping is great, but when things don't work, it's a major pain and any savings is quickly wiped out.

Pros: Finally a DVD/CDR drive that doesn't die on you or have read errors. I've been through 2 lite-ons before I got to this point. The HP drive has had ZERO issues at all. No bad burns, no take-forever reads, no having to take the disk out and rub it/blow on it/etc to try to get it to read. And no redundancy errors. I'm definitely sticking with HP from now on.

Cons: none. The included nero software was a nice touch.

Overall Review: Love the sata optical drives, glad I went with HP.
