Pros: This laptop has a lot of features at this price point. You aren't going to find many laptops that offer perks such as HDMI output, Bluetooth, and an Express Card input at this price. Plus it has a 7200 RPM hard drive. Very sleek appearance. Screen looks great. Very versatile laptop. Avoided HP for years, but they have put out a good product here. Called their support, got right through, and in two days had all of the restore discs in my possession. Do the same.
Cons: It's true; the frame does attract a lot of fingerprints. Definitely not a deal-breaker, but if that sort of thing drives you crazy, get a skin or look elsewhere. Not going to complain about the speakers. Nobody buys a laptop expecting great speakers. They are adequate. If you want better sound, plug in some externals.
Overall Review: I find it funny when people dock eggs due to things they knew about the product BEFORE they bought it. It's not like you are getting a random object; you read the specs and bought it! Am I going to dock an egg because this only has 2 GB of memory? NO! I knew that when I bought it! Am I going to dock a couple eggs because this HP isn't a Dell, and it's a laptop, not a desktop? You get the picture.
Pros: Windows 7 Upgradeable to 8 gigs of ram Awesome metal finish Very solid build Great battery life so far Stays cool GREAT PRICE!
Cons: 32 bit and not 64 bit (but read on you can fix that)
Overall Review: I paid $400 and got free shipping so I feel like I got a steal of a deal for this amazing machine. Everything feels so classy, from the metal finish to the island keyboard. The unique brown color really catches my eye. This computer seems super sturdy, very little flex when you close the lid even when you use the complete left or right side of the screen to close it. This computer comes with 32 bit windows 7, if you're like me and want to upgrade to 64 bit all you have to do is call hp support and order recovery disks, best of all they're FREE. I also ordered 4 more gigs of ram. Overall...can't beat a laptop like this for $400...complete with 6 gigs of ram and shipping I have $440 wrapped up...money well spent.
Pros: I noticed another reviewer said that this laptop takes 1333 DDR3 ram. Well I took apart this HP 4525s to see exactly what ram I should use to replace it and I found out this mine too had one 2GB stick of DDR3 1333 PC3 10600 Samsung ram in it! Hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade the ram!!
Cons: I already left a review (Sort it by highest helpful and find RacingRyan)
Overall Review: I already left a review (Sort it by highest helpful and find RacingRyan)
Pros: Simple design; nice alum lid and palm rest; runs fast and has a great display; everything runs well! I bumped the RAM, HDD, and loaded it with the 64 bit W7 Pro and it runs like a demon. No complaints with anything on this machine. I really love it.
Cons: A little tough to upgrade, but if you download the HP Service manual (pdf file), it makes it easy. Everything is under the keyboard.
Overall Review: I replaced a Core i3 Samsung with this because I am starting to like the AMD processors more and more. This one runs faster than the Samsung. Go figure!
Pros: -Price -Stability -Speed -Hidden partition works smoothly -Ventilation -Style/Feel -Mouse Pad (takes getting used to)
Cons: -Mouse takes getting used to, but after you do its super easy, and funny to watch people who've never used it before! -No hard copies of software included (at least not in my re-certified one.) But honestly I'm not sure if a lot of laptop sellers offer that anymore for free.
Overall Review: Had this for about 7-8 months now, and its super stable. I even accidentally totally erased the main partition (trying to experiment with a new Linux distro.) and was able to use a hidden partition to restore to factory settings. The entire time I've owned it, I found it got really slow for a couple days, but I think it was due to an installation of a java program (could be wrong, I don't work with java much). I totally uninstalled java and its components and it sped back up! Also I've ran it this entire time on the original 2 gigs of ram and Win7 is still very responsive. Definitely one of my best financial calls!
Pros: Speakers are loud, plenty of ports, good batter life.
Cons: Had to send my first one back the day I received it. The right speaker was not putting out much sound when compared the the left one. Called Newegg and I was told it would take over 2 weeks to get a replacement because they had to verify my claim, or they would just send me free external speakers. After speaking to another operator I was told I could just return it and they would send me a new one that day. Mouse pad takes getting used to.
Overall Review: They almost lost my business telling me I had to wait two weeks or just get some external speakers. Who wants to lug around extra speakers for their laptop? Seemed to me that the operator I was dealing with just didn't want an RMA issue.
Pros: Very durable and high quality built. Easy to maintain. With 4gb of DDR3 is able to run many games and do multi tasking with ease. No heating problems. Good speakers. Great webcam. Very attractive
Cons: Touchpad takes time to get used to. It does not cook coffee
Overall Review: I still can't believe that this thing costs under $400. I have it for 6 months so far and can't complain about anything. It served me better then any other laptop I ever had. Worth every penny, and it is very durable. HP really did a great job on this one. And, I was afraid that screen is not going to be bright enough after reading the reviews, but the screen can be even too bright. I keep mine on middle brightness level and it is more than enough.
Pros: You can place this on your legs or a leather chair or anywhere and it doesn't start getting hot and overheating because it doesn't intake the air from the bottom so it stays cool where ever it is. Very nice build quality. I really enjoy the metalic brown finish. I have got compliments about how nice it looks (I travel a lot). Powerful graphics and CPU that work very well together and can play games with ease for the price e.g. League of Legends at 60fps. SD card reader is very handy. I can get the battery to last over 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Cons: Trackpad is interesting to get use to but since it is all flat and hard to tell where the buttons are when looking at the screen. You have to look down and make sure your fingers line up correctly once in a while. But I mastered it in a few days so don't let that stop you.
Overall Review: Windows 7 Pro included has some bloatware that does slow this laptop down a lot. But I did a clean install of windows 7 and it's very fast and smooth now.
