Yes.  It's still annoying, but like 40% less so.  The flat cable has a tendency to twist more too, feeling wound up while also cocooning you.  It's a welcome change, but I don't honestly think it's $40 worth of change.  If that price us under your threshold for throw away money, then get it.  If not, skip it and don't stress that you're missing out on a fix for the annoying cable, you aren't.
