I have no idea about the model numbers. I do know that all basestations that have been sold from the original release until now (Jan 7, 2018) are compatible.

how many base stations can be put on one system? I know it probably sounds like dumb question.

This is actually a two parter, and not a dumb question at all.

The direct answer is 2 max. In the future there may be an update that allows more, but currently 2 is the max.

The indirect answer is that basestations don't connect to your computer system. They are lighthouses, putting out timed pulses which the Vive peripherals can detect. There is no communication with the computer except when updating the firmware. You could have multiple sets of basestations setup all on the same 'system'. They would need to not interfere, so for example a set in a living room and a set where your desk is. There are programs that let you swap saved chaperone boundaries that you could then use to switch to different areas as long as you had cables which allows the headset and linkbox to reach them.
