The headset that turned me off VR.

Pros: higher resolution then the vive
single connector cable
very nice head strap and headphones

Cons: day one audio issues. it's not my drivers it's the device.
constant disconnects
inability to reliably find the vive wands
inability to reliably find the vive basestations
inexcusably bad customer support from htc
let me just reaffirm the audio issues.

Overall Review: let me start this off by saying im not new to VR . i have owned a vive for 2 years and the vive pro since launch, before that i owned a dk1.

the vive was great. it felt like a maker product. ya there were bugs but the community was close and took care of most of them. it felt like a normal early adopter tax. my only complaint was the 15 minute set up time before every vr session. oh that light house isnt detecting anything. oh this controller forgot it existed, my 100$ want that it didnt want the touchpad to function. things like this really soured the mood for me but i understood the idea of early adopter and could roll with it.

so i was over the moon when i read about a higher resolution PROFESSIONAL VIVE. surely this product will have better support and fewer glitches.

well 7 months later and the vive pro is going to be replaced with a rift or a samsung odyssey.

the problem is the persistant, undocumented, unplayable, bethesda esque bugs. everything from audio glitching out and sounding as if it was being played through kanye west's abused computer or audio options not playing anything at all to resolution bugs where nothing scales at all from normal vive resolution. worse is that it suffers from every bug that the vive has as well!

As we all know the support team is less than useless even for a 1000$ plastic piece of junk like this one.

the worst part is that if it was consistently bad in the same or similar ways i could get used to it, work around it, maybe even find solutions but between valve/htc's garbage support, the inconsistency and the miniscule user base i can't justify trying to make this product work anymore.

i just want to play simple game.

i want to be able to log into elite dangerous and see something amazing, not a blurry mess

i want to log into vrchat and hear my friends, not be ear ****** by a dank meme clip video because the audio is messed up.

i want to be able to play skyrim and not watch my hands randomly disappear.

TL:DR vive pro is the worst 1000$ i have spent on my pc set up yet.

Better than the others....

Pros: Best resolution of current VR headsets makes experience more involving
Much less "screen door" effect with improved LCD panel
More comfortable and lighter than earlier Vive
Good sound
One cable instead of three makes mobility easier

Cons: Still not high enough resolution for "perfect VR experience"
Some glitches setting it up to replace my earlier Vive, but HTC support chat worked me through and got the drivers loading right
TOO EXPENSIVE! -sigh- It's the burden of being an early adopter.

Overall Review: This is a very good VR headset, once I got the drivers set up on my Windows 10 machine as they needed to be, it has worked flawlessly. Using it on an i7-8700k @ 4.8 GHz, Nvidia GTX-1080 "Founders," 16 GB RAM, Gigabyte motherboard, Samsung M.2 512 GB.

There is more and more cool content for VR - I'm not into FPS games, so I'm looking for other content like art, puzzles, comedy, telepresence and documentary. Curiosity Stream is offering some on Steam now, I am looking forward to seeing that.

VIVE Pro is not a toy ... Ignore the trolls

Pros: Higher resolution
Better sound
Future proof for larger play space which many people do have ( large living rooms, garages, outside, etc) but can't use at this time.
And the many other things you can read about on the VIVE web page and many articles written.

Cons: Price is high but this is a high end item upgrade. Like buying a high end video card which you will need to run this. My friend did say he had to do some tweaking to get the resolution just right for him and the sound was giving him some issues. That could have been due to his specific PC setup though as I have not heard much complaints yet from owners about these issues. Yes if you do buy new wands and lighthouses you will be over $1000 dollars. Lenses could have been changed but you can change them yourself if you want at your own risk....

Overall Review: If you want higher resolutions in gaming like myself then you will have to save money and buy hardware that will take you there. That is how life works. I'd everything for free also and cheap but that is in a dream world. Other reviewers were talking about Google coming out with a 5k HMD and Pimax 8k: Forget those. They are not to be compared to Rift or VIVE and people like us would not be able to run those on our PCs. They are going to be for commercial use for the most part and the Pimax makes people dizzy because of the wide FOV. If it looks like a troll post it is. The VIVE Pro is top of the line VR hardware. And I do agree it is expensive. But having one is still sweet.

Holy moly

Pros: On paper, the improvement in the display doesn’t seem like it would be much. It is a huge improvement however. The originals “sweet spot” made you feel to have a little tunnel vision. Where only in the center of your view was it clear. The pro doesn’t seem to have a sweet spot, it’s all so clear.

Cons: Price

A very noticeable upgrade.

Pros: - First and foremost, the resolution is fantastic. The upgrade makes everything significantly sharper, text is more readable, textures less muddy, and I can no longer see the red blue and green of each pixel as I could with the base Vive headset.
- The built in earphones are MUCH more comfortable and adjustable than the Deluxe Audio Strap (DAS). Rather than the whole headphone being a flat cushion with holes that lays on your ear like the DAS, the Vive Pro headphones are built like smaller version of standard over the ear headphones. They insulate from background noise much better, and fit great. The new volume control buttons on the left headphone are also a welcome addition.
- The fit of the headset is a vast improvement over the DAS. The softer foam on your face and the back of the head support is very comfortable and the headset fits much more balanced on your head. They improved the seal around the nose, effectively eliminating the light that would leak in on the base model. I don't feel any shifting of the headset even with my head tilted as far as it can go in any direction or with sudden head movements. Adjustments for people with glasses have also been optimized. Rather than 2 separate awkward knobs on the sides, the distance of the lenses to your face is controlled by simply pushing a button on the bottom of the headset and moving it to the desired distance.
- After extended play (I spent 4 straight hours in Skyrim VR) I had far less sweat around the face foam, and no red line around my eyes that was pretty much guaranteed had I spent that much time with the old headset.

Cons: - While the price is a con, I understand why it is so high. This headset for people who want the best of the best, and can afford it (no I don't consider Windows Mixed Reality Headsets to be even close to the same league as the Vive and Occulus due to significantly inferior motion tracking versatility). HTC has also released a reduced priced bundle with 2 Vive 1.0 lighthouses and 2 Vive 1.0 controllers with the Vive Pro for $1099 for those who aren't just upgrading.
- While this seems minor, this Vive Pro, just like the Vive, still can only adjust down down to an IPD of 60.7mm. I, and several people I know, have shorter IPDs and it still feels a bit off.
- The Vive Pro also still uses Fresnel lenses, so you will still the light glare that is inherent with them. They were originally put on to combat the "screen door effect" that you get from lower resolution, however HTC still thought it a good idea to keep them on the new headset even after a 78% resolution increase.....oh well.

Overall Review: I absolutely recommend this upgrade if you have the money. To some people, it may be worth waiting until the release of the bundle containing the Vive Pro with 2.0 lighthouses and controllers, or the wireless dongle, but even with just the headset being upgraded, I am not regretting the $799 I spent on the Vive Pro in the least.

HTC VIVE PRO?

Pros: Increased resolution, sure
added audio, sure

Cons: Let's start with the elephant in the room, PRICE! Are you kidding me, $799 just for the headset. It's almost Aprils fools day but not quite yet.

Overall Review: I would recommend waiting until the price drops and the new controllers come out. No one can really justify this price for a headset. Don't forget you need at least a 1070 which these days will run you $600+

Huh? Hell No!

Pros: VIVE Pro may be the next best thing but for the money it is not worth it. Google is launching its 5k headset this year and I can promise you it won’t made this price point.
For the next best in VR at $800 you don’t get controllers or base stations. So you need to spend $100 for old controllers, and another $300-400 on a pair of base stations.
Sorry, but HTC is shooting themselves in the foot here.

Cons: Price
No base stations
No controllers

With 20 Feet of Room Scale, They Really Need an Animal Detector Built Into This Thing!

Pros: + Quality, Quality, Quality!
+ It's The Most Immersive VR Experience Yet
+ The Addition of Augmented Reality Experiences As Well
+ The 3D Spatial Surround Sound! Think Dolby Atmos / DTS:X

Cons: - Quite an Expensive Upgrade $$$
- The Full Potential of the Upgraded Tracking Isn't Utilized In All Games Yet! (Obviously)
- Almost Stepped on my Cat, Multiple Times!
- Who's Realistically Going To Have 20 x 20 Ft to Play In?
- Further Segments The Experiences Between All VR Devices & Games :(

Overall Review: Fits Right In With Existing Vive Accessories, (Mostly)
