is there a power button of the front to disable the drives? i wanted a faster option than a NAS but i don't need it on all the time.

No, there is not a power button -- all SATA power is supplied on the back of the housing. This housing works very well with 4 dedicated ports on the motherboard configured for RAID 0. Ideal setup for Video storage solution for fast editing.

What SAS/Internal connector is used for the drive bays?

If it was a SATA only connector there would be a vertical slot inside the dock between the data and power ports that would prevent you from sliding a SAS drive into it. Just search "2.5" SAS connector" using Google Images and you'll see the difference between SATA and SAS.

Can this be used with an OS drive ? I have another cage like this but BIOS cannot find the OS drive when in the cage.

I use this ICY DOCK 4 x 2.5 SSD to 5.25 Drive Bay Hot Swap Backplane Cage Mobile Rack so as to be able to switch from one configuration of W10 to another configuration of W10 by going through a system reset and switching SSDs when the system is held in reset. I had no problems for a long time. After many swaps, though, I had a problem that was apparently due to wear on the socket in the cage (BIOS would not recognize the SSD). Bought a second cage and it works fine with the same pair of SSDs

will the unit handle 2.5" drives that are 9.3mm height?

They should with no issues assuming the ssd only has the standard width and length. Measured one of my drive sleds and it has a 15mm gap between the bottom plate and the upper cover of the sled
