LG EA93 UltraWide monitor is like two screens in one (and a multi-tasker's dream)

By July 11, 2013No Comments

The flagship product of LG’s line of 2013 monitors is the 29-inch LG EA93 UltraWide monitor, a widescreen HD monitor with some user-convenience features that will make it easier to utilize all that screen size when you’re not watching movies.

Screen real estate

LG’s UltraWide monitor gives plenty of space and high-quality picture for users looking to multi-task.

The LG EA93 UltraWide’s name is fitting—the screen stretches 29 inches diagonally, at a 21:9 aspect ratio for what amounts to the look of two screens sitting side by side. The LG “Cinema Screen” bezel is small, as well, so there’s quite a bit of space to work with on the monitor itself.

The expansive display is set up for watching widescreen movies with little effort, and can display numerous windows with minimal overlay quite easily.

Major multi-tasking

Multi-tasking and using more than one window or program is easy as a result of that huge screen. LG also included a 4-Screen Split feature to conveniently divide up the monitor’s screen into different configurations with only a few mouse clicks.

Beyond that, LG’s “Dual-Link Up” function can connect the monitor to two separate external devices simultaneously, combining content from an external hard drive and a laptop, or a smartphone and the desktop PC for multi-tasking on different devices.  Versatility and convenience are key when working with large screens, and LG’s UltraWide gives the user options and a way to actually make use of all that space without taxing configuration menus.

Case in point: check out the starring role for these LG monitors in a new music video by pioneering hip-hop artist Derek Vincent Smith, better known as Pretty Lights. In the video for his latest track, “Around the Block,” Smith uses LG UltraWide monitors to combine his musical vision and music-mixing process with expansive, cinematic screens and multi-tasking features.

The concept of the video is the symbiosis between man and machine, or more specifically, between Smith and his LG monitors. With expansive screens and enhanced multi-tasking features, these monitors are an ideal match for Pretty Lights’ unique, experimental approach to creating music and video.

Picture quality

Most LG 2013 monitors use In-Plane Switching (IPS) display technology designed to help alleviate common pitfalls of LCD screens. The panels offer a higher heat tolerance, better off-angle viewing and high-quality color reproduction. On the UltraWide, this translates to more than 99 percent sRGB color space expression and support for color calibration to give the EA93 top-notch picture quality across all four split screens.
