According to my Windows Experience Index (as reliable as we can consider that to be) my "bottleneck" far and above is my HDD, with a score of 5.9, compared to the next lowest score of 7.6 (my RAM). I'd like to give my computer a "kick in the rear end" so to speak, and was curious if anyone who owns this would mind letting me know what you got for this drive on your WEI?

will this fit in a macbook pro 13 inch?

Only if it's a non-Retina model 13" Pro. The Retina models use mSATA rather than SATA.  I installed one in a 2012 13" Pro last year, works great!

will it fit in my standard 3.5" HDD location.  Does it come with adapters to allow it to fit?

This is the retail kit so if you check out the last picture, you will see everything that is included, one of those items is a 2.5" to 3.5" metal bracket to mount the drive in a 3.5" bay.  I have used well over 50 Intel SSD kits, the drives are great and the retail kit should have everything you need.

Can this drive be installed in a raid configuration with 2 drives?

Yes.  I did exactly that.  I have a RAID 1 array.  The drives are easy to mount and install.

The drives come with a software that lets you clone drives, but there is a drawback.  In order for the cloning software to work, it has to recognized that the drive is Intel.  When you set them up as a RAID drive, the Intel information does not pass through.  Therefore, if you want to clone something to these drives, you will need a separate cloning software.  I personally use Acronis True Image; however, Drive-Clone (from Farstone) has a product that will get the job done, and the home version is free.

Yes, this SSD does come with an adapter for your desk top computer case and the screws to mount it. In the case of my set up, my computer case , Apevia comes with several plastic hard drive mounting slides which attach to the side of the metal plate ssd adapter so it will slide into the rails of the hard drive section of my case. You can also just use a couple of screws to secure the adapter plate in the same way you would a standard hard drive in your particular case. By the way, this drive works great, excellent value and rock solid, replaced an OCZ drive that die twice within 9 months, replace it with a warranty return after 5 months, the replacement drive died after only 4 months so I didn't even bother to send it back in and decided to buy quality; this  Intel SSD , no problems so far. Hope you have the same good experience with yours.

Will this work in a HP a1700n Pavilion ( built 2006 ). I know the mother board has 4 sata I ports.  Upgraded the computer with 4 GIGS ram and AMD 5000 CPU.  If so can I get my current OS ( Vista onto this from my current hard drive.  Also what is TRIM and does my system have it? TY

Hi Gio G,

I am not sure if Sata II form factor hard drive connector will work  or is backwards compatible with a SATA I motherboard. I would Google search the question of backwards compatability of SATA II to SATA I.  
 If it is then, this SSD from Intel would be a great upgrade for your rig. I was in a similar situation with my rig. I had up graded everything I could for the motherboard I used when I build my rig, memory, video cards, fans, processor, liquid processor cooler and had two standard HD in mine, no where else to turn for a bump in performance/usefulness...to the rescue a Top Quality Solid State Hard drive. The improvement will be huge on most systems when going from an Old style Plate hard drive to solid state. 
   Not exactly sure how to explain what trim is but as best I understand what it is : Trim is a similar or a mixture of cleaning junk files/defrag./and file integrity check in simple terms for your SSD. since you can't defrag an SSD, Trim is a system utility that keep your SSD cleaned out and files compacted within the file retention system via the memory chips inside. It is suppose to extend the life span of the drive since there is a limited number of times the SSD's read/write storage area can be written on and then cleaned to reuse it for newer data, the trim helps the drive maintain a  good structure as far as how the data is written.  Windows 7 is the oldest operating system that can use Trim if I am not mistaken. I use Windows 7 on my Intel SSD,  Vista on one of my old hard drives, and the 3rd hard drive is my backup drive on my rig.  Hope this was of some help to you, hopefully on of our fellow newegg shoppers can and will provide you with a better / more technically correct explanation of what Trim is and does since I am not totally sure I understand it completely myself.
 Oh one last thing-- Don't go for the cheap SSD brands, I did and 3 dead or quickly dead SSD's later I went with quality .. Intel and had not one issue.

i have a late 2011 Mack book pro 13inch, it say the HD is 9mm and this drive is 7mm how does that factor in to the install?

Included with the SSD is a 2 mm plastic shim. It has adhesive strips so you can attach it to the top of the drive, creating an overall thickness of 9 mm.

I have two of these drives and never used them in either machine (ThankPad and embedded server). Sounds like you may need it in your MacBook though if there is some slack space.

Is this SSD compatible with a Lenovo Thinkpad T61?

Yes. You will notice quite a boost. This SSD will function @ SATA I or II at the most in your Lenovo, but the drive is capable of functioning at SATA III. The SSD will last you for a very long time, likely beyond the life of the notebook itself.
