Does this support an SSD and also does it support a GPU?

SSD Yes, I have a m.2 SSD In mine, In theory you should be able to put an external GPU on it via thunderbolt, but it didn't work well for me. (As soon as I installed the NVidia drivers it refused to boot)

What memory does this use?

Accepted Answer

It uses DDR4 2666MHz 260 Pin SODIMM, 1.2V up to 32 GB per slot with a maximum of 64 GB. I'm using Samsung "32GB DDR4 2666MHz 260 Pin SODIMM, 1.2V M471A4G43MB1" in each slot.

You can find compatible Components listed on the Intel site. Just google NUC and do a serach for the NUC10i7FNH. On the page scroll down on the left side you will see a link to a list of Intel tested components. Almost everything you need can be found from the NUC10i7FNH page.

I'm loving mine.

How does the multiple monitor work when there's only one HDMI port?

I added VANTEC USB-C 'Dongle' which has outputs to HDMI, DVI and VGA. {VANTEC Link, USB-C 3 in 1 Video Adapter model CB-CU301HDV. Note only 1 of the outputs is active at a time.}

Does the system come with a power adapter and cables?

Just an FYI, I have been using an Intel NUC 7i7BNH with an internal 12mm 5TB Seagate HDD for the last 6 months.
If you remove the drive tray from the NUC you can use double-sided foam tape and tape mount the drive firmly against the inside base of the unit. There is plenty (actually more) airflow and provides plenty of capacity for most work, I am using a 1TB Samsung M.2 PCIe SSD but will likely swap it out for a 2TB unit. If you need more capacity, this easy/quick mod has worked well for me.

Does this unit come with a CPU already installed?

The CPU is soldered on the motherboard, and has onboard graphics soldered on the motherboard. It is less of a kit and more of a thing to plug SO-Dimm memory and M2.40/80 SSDs. It's a great space saver to people with low footprint desks that like bigger monitors than you can easily justify on a laptop. I've got a Gen6, 7, and now a 10. They do well on almost everything I need to do. If I need to process crazy graphics I still have an under desk full tower with dual video cards, from like 8 years ago, but these little NUCs do 90% of everything I normally need done, and at 10% the cost of a full on graphics processing station. The power usage and cooling requirements are much lower too.

Is it Linux compatible?

I have Ubuntu 20.04 installed on one 275gb solid state drive and Windows 10 on a second 275gb solid state drive. I dual boot and it works perfect. I've installed 32gb of ram. This NUC i7 is faster than my 2019 Macbook Pro, which is also all solid state.

Is there a version of NUC 10 with i7 and 8 cores?

The NUC uses U-series low power laptop CPU, with a laptop CPU fan.  It is great for a home or theater PC that is on 24x7 drawing minimal power with a quiet fan.  This is not designed for workstation or gaming type high CPU loads, but mine easily handles a 4k computer monitor with lots of windows open, or playing a movie full-screen.

M.2 SSD- The Specs say "M.2 22x42/80". But NE lists "M.2 2242" or "M.2 2280." Both have similar numbers. Which is compatible?

The previous answer by BRUCE M.  Aug 16, 2020  is correct. The Intel tech writer was lazy and took a shortcut, 42/80 means either the 42mm or 80mm length may be used.
