How big does the heatsink and fan need to be?

This is a 69W processor. The 69W refers to the Thermal Design Power of the CPU, a specification that identifies how much heat the processor generates at full power load.

In the world of CPU's, 69W is a relatively small figure. i7 chips can be rated at 130W or more. Arctic Cooling makes a line of coolers that work pretty well. They're relatively inexpensive, they have fans that are usually much quieter than stock intel fans. They come in different configurations, and usually have some premium heat paste that helps keep things running smooth and cool.

Does this come with a heat sink? If so what kind is it?

The CPU comes with a stock CPU fan/heatsink. This is what the majority of the box consists of with the CPU being the small window at the top.

Will this work if I have a GeForce GTX 650 Gpu? (Will it fit with it or interfere?)
(I'm looking at putting this on an ASUS Z77-A LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, within my Dell Inspiron 518 case, should this all work?)

Thats the exact setup I have right now with processor mobo and video card. Looking to upgrade video card, but the 650 works fine in my case, runs skyrim, bfbc2, other current games fairly smooth.

I have an off the shelf gateway dx4840-11e. It has an i3 duel core cpu. can I install an i5 or i7 quad core in this mother board? If so will there be any benefits in doing so?

Im sure that you can in fact install an i5 or i7 as long as the motherboard supports them. What kind of performance you will get out of it should be elevated to that particular cpu's capabilities or close to it.

Question 5

All ivyBridge architectures have on-chip GPU. Are the GPU's enabled on this model? Is that same as Intel HD graphics?

Question 6

I have p8z77-m with this CPU and hooked up everything but CPU fan does not power on and not getting into BIOS.  Is there something wrong with the CPU?  I have done this one two motherboards.  Do I need the Video card in order to get the CPU fan started spinning?

Check to see if you plugged the CPU fan in correct location. There is usually only one correct CPU fan header. Check to make sure RAM is firmly in correct slots. If you tried 2 motherboards then that is most likely not the problem. Make sure everything is wired correctly as far as case, power supply, and motherboard. You will need a video card with this processor. Beyond that you may have a bad fan or chip. Exchange with Newegg or Intel as needed. Good luck.

Looking for an upgrade. I am currently using an AMD FX-8120. I do a lot of gaming, I don't mess around with overclocking because I would rather not mess up any parts. I am looking to get a new mobo and CPU preferably for under 300. Should I go with this or the i5-3470? I am running a Radeon 270x Video card so I have a GPU if this one is more recommended. Also, could someone recommend a good motherboard to go with this?

Try ASUS or MSI Mother board Make sure to get one with at lease 1 PCI Express 16 3.0  for your video card and will take A wide range of Processor ( I3, I5, or I7 ect.) incase you want to up grade the CPU later on. And have some USB 3.0 port for your SSD drive for future upgrade.

What is the minimum power supply I would need?

Depends on your other components, of course. Specifically, your Graphics card and number of hard drives would increase your power usage, but you could make do with 350-450W with a low-end Graphics Card. Otherwise consult the recommended power supply for the video card you choose.

What I want to know is this: Will the Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80637i53350P be compatible with my motherboard and processor? I notice the processor has a lower Integrated Memory Controller Speed- Supports Dual-channel DDR3-1333/1600. Do i need to get a better processor to match my desktop memory?

If your motherboard supports the memory, then it should support the socket it is designed for. Keep in mind this does not support integrated video, so you will need a video card, and I do not think the HDMI port on your motherboard will work. So everything will have to come out of your video card.

When in doubt or to be certain you can check with the manufacturer of the board (ASRock) but just because they do not mention something as compatible does not mean it will not work.

As for the better processor. If you are not tight on money, I would suggest getting an i7 instead. I use this for makeshift NAS box, so I am not exactly gaming on it. It might end up down clocking your memory.

After looking over the CPU socket type of the motherboard, it states that it accepts all LGA 1155 CPUs. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this CPU to go along with the MoBo you bought.

The biggest thing you always need to consider is that the all your items you attach to the MoBo connect. I usually decide on the CPU I want first, find a compatible MoBo then find the appropriate RAM and etc to go along with it.
