The answer to your question is yes it does come with heat sink, but you are going to have to install it correctly the first time because the heat sink is already apply to the fan. Most people don't like to use the one that comes with it, and they go buy an after market heat sink. It has worked fine with me so far.

honestly aftermarket is always better than stock.. when i bought this i believe there was a thermal pad already adhered to the stock cps cooler. I didn't use it so i don't remember, but if anything your local tech store/office supply store should carry thermal paste $10 - $20 depending on which one you'd like you could always buy it the day you build

Want to know if this processor will work / install into my computer.  I have a HP Pavillion Elite m9040n desktop computer, with an Intel Core(2) Quad CPU Q6600 @2.4GHz 2.39GHz, 3GB RAM (which I am upgrading to 7GB total), 32-bit operating system Windows Vista Home Premium, purchased 2007, service pack 2.

My son says I can install on motherboard but what else would I need to do?

Looking at your current processor (The intel Core(2)), I see that it has a socket type of LGA775.  Therefor, to fit into your motherboard, your motherboard would also be a socket type of LGA775.

This processor is a socket type of LGA 1150, so you would not be able to install it on your current motherboard.

Would this processor work for a beggining gamer at decent settings?

I would not recommend the built in GPU for any game released in the last four years. For older games it will be fine. But if you want to run anything more recent you should get a discreet GPU card. For beginner level compare the cards in the $100-$150 range.

Having said that I like this processor and am very happy with the performance, I would recommend it heartily.

This does come with a heatsibk and fan. Generally in my experience retail CPUs come with a heat sink and fan. OEM CPUs do not.

Yes, it is the full Intel Retail package, which includes the processor and fan (already fitted with thermal paste). That said, I always remove the intel thermal paste and use Arctic Silver 5 in its place. I hope this helps.

yes, all cpu's come with a fan, as they need to be cooled properly, and the company isnt sure if customer will have right fan.. so the manufacture provides the fan included.

It does but this is the one that came with the sandy bridge ones but the wattage n heat on haswel is higher is fine if you don't over clock or run at 3.2GHz for like 7 hrs
