I've heard some people saying that the coffee lake processors need the new motherboard. Is this true? Or can I use an older one that's not the 300 series?

They have changed the power features of the socket for this new generation of processors, Coffee Lake. Because of this, these processors will only be compatible with 300 series motherboards made for Intel processors.

Question 2

Does this come with the gel stuff for the fan or do i need to buy that separately?

The CPU comes with thermal paste (the gel stuff) already applied. You just have to line up the heatsink and fan (also included) and push it into place. It's pretty foolproof.

Note: if you're using an aftermarket cooler (a third party fan / heatsink), you may want to use different thermal paste. However, you can't overclock this processor, so overheating should be very unlikely even with the stock heatsink/fan and thermal paste. I haven't had any heating issues at all, and I just used everything right out of the box.

Question 3

Is the stock cooler sufficient to run for gaming? (I'm just wondering why buy an aftermarket cooler if you can't overclock...)

Assuming the rest of your airflow is decent, the stock cooler is perfectly fine. I have a midtower case with a 120mm fan and two 140mm fans; it's fairly close to the wall but with a moderate amount of space above it and on the access side (which has one of the fans). No cooling problems whatsoever and the CPU cooler is humming softly.

64-bit. Processors from intel nowadays are all 64-bit.

I'm looking to upgrade the Duo Intel core 2 processor on my iMac 2007 24 inch desktop, Will this be supported on such device?
P.S. I know it sounds ridiculous but its out of curiosity lol.

No I seriously doubt it since this processor requires not only an LGA 1151 socket but also a z370 motherboard. I seriously doubt a mac from 2007 has either of those specs on its motherboard.

What does it mean by for Intel  300 series boards ? Can I use a Asroc  Z370 chip set board ?

Z370 is a 300 series board. It will not work on the older 200 series boards like the z270. Make sure the Z370 mobo you purchase is for intel chips.

What is the range in ram? Like 2133-4000

I believe Intels specs list this series at 2666, but certainly 2133 and higher too. Check the individual motherboards approved rams fist though always. Also, I believe Trident has released 4000Mhz specifically for Coffee Lake.

If I am low on budget can i use this with a single 8g ddr4 and later buy the other one?

Every CPU and Motherboard are compatible with only one stick of ram, just make sure the 2nd one you purchase is identical to the first in terms of voltage, timing and frequency support. Ideally just buy the ram you initially purchased again.

Is it backwards compatible with kaby lake MBs?

No. They can only be used on Z370 MBs.

would this work well with gtx 1080? or will be a bottle neck for high end gaming?

I imagine that it'd work well enough but if you're going to drop the cashon a 1080 I'd bump up at leagues the unlocked version. I use this with a 6gb 1060 and I've never had any problems.  It depends on what sorts of games you play and the resolution and whether they're more GPU or CPU dependent. I believe there are some reviews online that might better answer your question and help you decide what's right for you.  Also if you're wanting to stream I believe that requires more CPU power to capture at a better frame rate
