It is my understanding that the raptor lake chips become unstable after 5.2ghz. Is there any advantage to getting a 14th gen chip if you cannot exceed clock speeds of 5.2? My thoughts are to just get a 13th gen and cap the settings in bios so that it doesn't go above 5 ghz. Or maybe wait for the next chip gen / architecture to avoid a bad chip that cant run factory settings?

Adrian, there are many causes for instability. I've had an AMD (5950X) system that would crash for no reason every few days. I now have two systems running a 13900K, and one running a 14900KS. They have been running reliably and are snappier in Windows than the AMD system was, probably because Intel's latest CPUs are quite a bit faster in single-thread performance. I've run benchmarks and games on each Intel system and have never had one of these systems freeze or crash. Just make sure to select a quality motherboard with good user feedback, update the motherboard's BIOS, and only use RAM that has been certified compatible with the motherboard (usually found in the Support section for the motherboard on the manufacturer's website.) Also, a good power supply and CPU cooler are wise choices.
