The ones I purchased came with the Sabre Raven. As far as redeeming the code, You will have to confirm with Roberts Space Industries but I’ve heard other say that the ability to redeem is only through 12-31-18 so get it now or it’s gone. Good luck!

Would this work on a ryzen build?

Yes it should interact fine with  a Ryzen processor, though be aware that u.2 connections are almost exclusively found on intel motherboards and are not typically found on motherboards that websites bundle with the Ryzen. I believe most modern boards will have an m.2 slot, but I would strongly recommend checking just in case yours doesn't. Also I have never seen a motherboard with multiple m.2 slots so determine in your parts build whether you would be better served getting the PCIe version of the drive.

Does this drive come with the U.2 cable?

Mine did, the only caveat I would add is that I purchased mine over a year ago and sometimes packaging contents change. That being said, the wording on the site is the same as it was when I purchased. My motherboard didn't have a U.2 slot, I needed a converter to M.2.

Intel manufactured 900p with Saber Raven code for 3 months until January 2018. The code can be redeemed at Star Citizen by the end of 2018.

You have to buy a package with code, and redeem it by Dec. 31, 2018. If your package doesn't have a code, just return it and find another vendor.

whats the difference between the 900p and 800p?  I thought the drives aren't storage persay, but something the computer uses to cache data and retrieve faster over time?

800p (READ 1450 MB/s, WRITE 640 MB/s) is not fast as 900p (READ 2500 MB/s, WRITE 2000 MB/s). However, it has m.2 form to sip power.

You get 800p if you plan to install Optane in your laptop or Intel NUK machine. Otherwise, 900p is far more price and performance competitive.

No laptop can hold 900p. This drive has 15mm thickness and U.2 connector. Find 800p instead for your laptop.

Can I use this on a z170 board?

Intel is using the "Optane" name to describe two different products.  "Optane Memory" which are 16 or 32 GB M.2 SSD's have been available for 6+ months.  "Optane Memory" can only be used on Z270 (i.e., 200 series and newer) motherboards and are really intended to be used only with mechanical spinning hard drives.  Only 200 series and newer MB's will have the "Intel Optane Ready" statement.  Most people using a newer system with a 200, 300, or 299 series chipset won't be using a mechanical hard driver for their boot drive so "Optane Memory" will have very limited usage.

Ignore the above paragraph for this new Intel Optane 900P SSD product, it doesn't apply.  Intel is using the "Optane" description here for their new 3D XPoint non-volatile memory technology (co-developed with Micron) in this instance.  The Intel 900P SSD is similar to any other NVMe PCIe SSD and can probably be used with almost every decent motherboard made in the last 4 years although you probably want PCIe version 3.0, I suppose it would work with PCIe 2.0.

Yes, it can be used with a Z170 motherboard.  However, it has the same limitations as any other NVMe PCIe SSD.  The MB requires a UEFI BIOS that supports NVMe.  Check with your motherboard manufacturer to see if they have a BIOS update for NVMe support.  Then you know Windows 7 does not natively support NVMe, you have to add the drivers or use Windows 10 or Linux.  Follow a tutorial on how to set the BIOS settings for an NVMe SSD to boot the operating system.

This particular SKU is for the U.2 version.  Your motherboard will need a U.2 connector.  You can use an adapter to use it with an M.2 connector or PCIe slot.  Asus for one makes adapters.  Or you can buy the Intel 2.5 inch 900P SSD that comes with the M.2 adapter or buy the PCIe add-in card model.  Newegg sells them also.  Then be aware that some motherboards deactivate PCIe slots if you use an M.2 or U.2 NVMe PCIe SSD.  Read your owner's manual to find out.  Good luck!
