Does this come with a CPU cooler?

Yes, it comes with the same cooler that all other intel processors come with. I've been using the stock cooler for a couple months now and with a moderate overclock of 4.3 on 1.175 volts it keeps temps in the mid to upper 50's celcius, that's while gaming. It idles in the 20's. You can get a better cooler for this CPU, but in my opinion the stock one does just fine.

Question 2

I have an old Compaq Presario.....can this be used with this old system, i.e., just replace old processor?

The LGA 1150 in the product description means it needs a 1150 pin socket (new in 2013), so it will not fit into the socket on the old motherboard.  You may have better luck with the G2xxx series processors which have the older style LGA 1155 socket which will likely fit your motherboard (unless it is really old as Intel likes to switch sockets to force upgrades).  The G2xxx series are pretty close to the G3xxx at equivalent price points. You give up a little performance for backwards compatibility.  Also check to see if the motherboard has a BIOS update that provides support for the processor model you are considering.

Does this item come with thermal paste? If not, do I need to buy some separately, or will it work with just the fan?

It comes with a stock Intel heatsink, which includes pre-applied thermal paste on the bottom. All you need to do is drop the CPU into the socket and then install the heatsink down on top of it. When you secure the clips, that will cause the paste to make contact with the CPU and spread it out.

Fan is included with this box, as well as pre-applied thermal grease.

You literally just need to install the processor on your mobo (clamp it down), smush the fan on top of it, and snap in the plastic rivets to lock it in place. Nice cheap processor for the computer I built for my mom.

Will this fit a ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6GB USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard?  Is there a difference between a 1150 socket and a 1155 socket?

short answer: NO if you are shopping on newegg.com, use the "Narrow your choice" panel on the left when you go to Computer Hardware > CPUs / Processors > Processors - Desktops and select "LGA 1155" which will show only the processors that will physically fit. If you are paranoid, go look at the manual for the Motherboard or check the manufactorer's web site to see if the CPU model you have in mind is supported. The chances are good that it will be out of the box, but sometimes you may need a BIOS upgrade to the Motherboard, or not supported because the CPU is too power hungry for that Motherboard.

Does DDR3 mean it will not work with DDR2?

Unfortunately it will not, these have on board memory controllers only designed for DDR3, even if they could use DDR2 the point would be moot since there are no motherboards that can accept DDR2 and this processor.

does intel pentium g3220 supported 1866mhz ram?

You can put DDR3-1866 memory (Please note, it's not 1866MHz, it's 1866MT/s (megatransfers)) into any motherboard that will work with this processor.  With memory on modern CPUs/Chipsets, the memory and chipset will negotiate the best speed they can attain in tandem.

If you put DDR3-1866 memory in with conjunction with this processor it will clock down to 166MHz memory speed (DDR3-1333 speeds).  (Likewise, if you put DDR3-1066 memory in, the CPU will clock down to 133MHz memory speeds.) You can overclock your memory with a Z87 chipset, forcing the CPU to clock its speed up to a higher speed.  I would not suggest this with a such a low-end processor though.

If you plan to upgrade your processor at a later time, get a Z87 motherboard and the faster memory; otherwise save money and get DDR3-1333 memory.

Yes it is. But if you're buying a board like that then this cpu is way too under powered. Better to get any k series cpu with this board. What are you using this set up for?

Is this a Mini, Micro, or full Atx processor?

You are confusing two different measurements. Mini, micro and full ATX are motherboard sizes. This is a CPU and not a motherboard. This particular CPU requires a LGA 1150 type socket on the motherboard in order to be able to plug the CPU into the motherboard.

How does this do at handling blu-ray video?

More than enough horsepower for blu ray just need to make sure video card is compliant if you use a video card otherwise, the only downside is it doesn't support hdmi version 1.3 which is for the 3d advancements. So if you dont plan on doing 3d this will handle it just fine 1080p
