Unfortunately not. This processor requires an Intel 3** series chipset motherboard i.e. h310, b360, z370. If you don't want to upgrade your motherboard, consider an i3-6100 or i5-6400. The i3-6100 should offer similar performance and the i5-6400 should offer slightly better performance. Hope this helps :)

From everything I can find your board requires and Lga 1151 series 300. The Intel Pentium Gold G5400 is a LGA 1151 series 300 CPU.

!!!!!! HOWEVER !!!!!

To be sure; you should go to the Asus website and check their compatibility chart (usually Asus dot com/support/name of mb) to make sure Asus recommends the CPU, Memory, and graphics board that you want to install. I don't know why they wouldn't recommend the cpu it's an intel.

I have heard in some cases a particular MB that came out early in a life cycle might not have it's bios updated for a particular cpu that came out later in the life cycle. I don't know if this is the case with your MB.

I checked Intel's website for the specs of this CPU and it indicates ECC memory is supported. Does that mean I can't use a non-ECC DDR4?

I'm using non-ECC DDR4 with mine. Works fine.

Yes, but only Caldera Linux designed for other CPUs. Seriously, if you have to ask, don't bother.
