Does the software that comes with the card have the ability to send an email when there is a drive failure/warning?

In the RAID Web Console, there's Alert Settings options to send emails on Fatal, Critical, Warning, and Information events. You can setup the mail server options and multiple email recipients.

If i have 8 drives attached could i do 4 raid 1 mirrors with this controller?

What's even cooler is, if you have a free port, you could have global Hot Spare, so if any of the drives in the MIRROR arrays fail, the global spare could automatically step in and start the rebuild process.  You have to enable the auto-rebuild option in the software.  The 8 port model would be full with 4 RAID0 arrays, but a 12 or 16 port model would have room for the spare.
