Not recommended - you would want to buy an i7-6700 or i5 to overclock. The Xeon is more for server based applications and motherboards usually.

Is an this processor better then a 2.60 Ghz Intel Core i7?
And if it is, can I switch it out for my i7 in my Lenovo Y700 Ideapad?

The Xeon E3-1225 v3 does not support hyper-threading according to ARK as of 4-Mar-2017.  So why does Newegg specifications say YES it does have hyper-treading?

My guess would be for the same reason that you typed v3 instead of v5.. Incorrect and probably unintentional.
