I have a supermicro X8DT6 motherboard with two "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU  L5520  @ 2.27GHz" processors of which one is giving me hardware errors : [Hardware Error]: CPU 4: Machine Check Exception: 4 Bank 8: fe000f000001009f

Would I be able to replace these processors with two Intel Xeon X5690 Westmere-EP 3.46 GHz 12MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W BX80614X5690 ?

Also, would the same cpu fans work with these two new processors?

Yes they should work fine.  A word of caution;  I upgraded to the X5690 myself and discovered that it is necessary to get a matching pair.  These processors are getting harder to find so insure they are new and they both come from the same place.  You might want to contact the seller directly to ensure that they come from the same LOT or their production numbers are at least close to each other.  I had 2 that were not and I had issues when CPUs were under moderate load.
