Does it have an on/off switch?

No unfortunately it does not have an on/off switch. The battery compartment is easy to access though to remove batteries when not in use. It does have an auto off function built in however, when left alone on my desk quality batteries survived admirably I feel, but when used in a place like my front room where it can be bumped and turned on it does drain them.

Will this connect wirelessly to my iPad 2?

As long as you have a usb slot, I don't see why it would not.
