Speakers in general are not limited to a certain type of receiver or specific manufacturer.  That said, I am not familiar with your receiver so I would just make sure what connectors you have available.  I use a Sony receiver and the sound is great.

If I want to connect this to a TV is it necessary to buy an amplifier/receiver since both speakers have RCA connections but a TV only has one RCA?

These speakers require a receiver. There is no rca jack on them, only speaker wire connections.

It has wood pattern. It is like wood painted in black. I did not investigate if it is real wood, but it looks like wood material.

Carry through the room?  LOL  They are 6.5 mid woofers.

I would like to play a DVD from my Macbook Pro and connect the audio from my laptop port to an adapter (3.5mm to RCA plugs).  Would this work with these speakers?  Other suggestions for having powerful sound for an outdoor movie night for a small group?  Thanks.

No that will not work without a amplifier in between your laptop and the speakers.
