No, you can try the red or white. Most likely they will not convert as an RCA video signal.
Note this device converts from HDMI to component video outputs which are the red, blue and green plugs. These are video outputs only. The red and white plugs complete the conversion to two channel stereo sound.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your input. I decided to purchase the KanexPro for the latest Apple TV streaming box. Unfortunately, all I got was audio-picture was blank/black. I adjusted TV screen to different sizes thinking it may be way off kilter but to no avail. To further trouble shoot, I plugged in my laptop and it worked just fine. With that said, the box is talking to the TV but may not like Apple speak. BTW, your product description confirms it works with Apple TV2.

I am think of replacing it with either another KanexPro thinking mine might be defective or replacing with another product. Do you have any suggestions for the latter?

Hi John,

I used the KanexPro HDMI to Component convert to connect my new Blu Ray player to my dated tv which didn't have an HDMI input.  I connected my audio directly from the player to my receiver using a digital coaxial cable.

The KanexPro HDMI to Component  doesn't come with any setup.  It will automatically try to play at 1080p as that was the highest resolution of my Blu Ray player.  To fix this I connected the player to my widescreen computer monitor which could view at 1080p and lowered the player resolution to 1080i.

The converter works perfectly, I think  it will work for your cable box.

How do you change the output resolution?  I want to run an HDMI Tivo to an older plasma TV with 720p resolution.  I don't have a computer monitor I can connect this to, nor a laptop with an HDMI output.

I'm assuming you want to have the HDMI output to the older TV with component input, but no HDMI connection.  That was my situation.  I ran the HDMI from the Tivo to the HDMI input on the KanexPro, then ran component cable (all 5, the 3 video and the 2 audio) from the KanexPRO to the TV component input.  That got picture and sound to the old TV, and resolution is good, if not HDMI good.

I need to go from my Apple TV bozo which is hdmi to a tv that only has RGB component in puts on it. What do I need?

This product should work the only problem you may run into is getting the display set up. If the Apple tv has resolution options you'll have to find a tv with hdmi to hook it up to to set the resolution to match your tv otherwise it'll automatically set it to 1080p or it did with me.

Sorry I'm not sure. I use mine to run HDMI from my MacBook Pro into a component amp that feeds multiple monitors. I have other things running in between, that's just a short answer. It works well though. I have no problems with it.

Is it HDCP compliant? I have an older WEGA TV that has HDMI but is not HDCP compliant. Trying to use it with a Dish Joey. I thought if I could convert the Joey's HDMI to Component I could use the Component input on the WEGA and still get Hi Def.

I use it with a SONY Blu-Ray player so I can send the signal to my old SONY 36 inch WEGA Trinitron TV.  Any Blu-Ray, or DVD, movie plays fine on my WEGA TV, using the component connections...

Now, if you are taking the signal off your Dish Joey box, it should play on your TV.  The HDCP is to prevent you from editing a recorded program and then writing it to a DVD disc.

I put a DVR between my cable box and my TV.  There are some cable channels locked out from editing and copying to a DVD or USB drive.  I can record and playback for my own personal viewing but I can't save those programs to a personal DVD.

Does this work with the xbox one?

Yes it should work with any HDMI output (from your Xbox) going to Component input on your TV/Display.  You plug your HDMI cable into the KanexPro converter input, and the component cables as output into your TV.
Make sure you know the difference between Component and Composite cables.
Composite Cables are usually Yellow for video, Red & White for audio.
Component cable: 3 video cables (YPbPr or Yipper Cables)
Green - Y
Blue - Pb / Cb
Red - Pr / Cr
Audio is not included in the Component signal and you'll need 2 other cables for the audio from the KanexPro converter to your TV.

Question 9

Will this converter work properly when connected to a RECEIVER that does not have HDMI ports that is connected to a big-screen television? Is there a possibility of switching problems? I want to connect a Roku unit that only has HDMI connectivity. Thanks

Hello - I'm hoping to use this for an older CRT and am not sure if it will work with the blu ray player I have. If it isn't compatible can this converter be returned?

If your CRT has Component cable plug-in, YPbPr or Yipper Cables, this box with work with your Blu-Ray player.  I have a Blu-Ray player hooked up to my Analog 36" TV utilizing this device.  It works very good!
