how long are the cordes and do i need a hard drive to hook up to it so that my video is captured?

Just purchased this because of the great price at the time $109.99. I already had camera's in place and wanted some backup cameras, but mostly the DVR. The manual that comes with this is on a disk - no paper manual.

The manual says the DVR will take up to a 2TB hard drive. It can use a 2.5" drive if you have the 3.5" bracket or you can use a regular 3.5" hard drive. You have to supply the drive. You remove 7 screws and take the cover off. Everything you need is there, except for the hard drive. They even supply the screws to mount the drive as well as the power and Sata cables which are already hooked up inside the DVR. I used a new 1TB drive and the DVR formatted it and everything.

Haven't used the cameras yet and can find no info on the length of the cords but they appear to be about 50 ft cords. Don't want to unroll them as I will never get them repacked, but they look longer than 25 ft and shorter than 100 ft. Sorry I cannot be more specific. There are 4 cords and a power splitter to power the 4 cords.

Hope some of this info helps and sorry I can't specify the cord length. I found the software to be just a bit complicated but have everything working satisfactory now.

Am I'm right to assume that I will not have to buy an HDD if I'm storing the data to the cloud?

From what i understand so far: the way it works is you can only send to the cloud what you have stored on your HHD. Really don't think you can upload video as fast as it will be captured (need a buffer zone)

480p according to what I am reading in the manual. I have the options set to BEST quality. The picture is in color and acceptable. To me it looks way better than SD but not as good as HD.

How long are the camera cables?

60 feet, but you can buy 100 foot cables on the night owl website for about 20 bucks each.

How could we have back up power supply with this product?

You could use a backup power supply (UPS) just like you would use one for your computer. However, if you are uploading the video to the "Cloud" You would need your router and modem on the battery backup system as well. This system does not draw much power but you would have to experiment with a UPS to see how long it would power your system.

The specs say this has cloud storage...do you know how the images will upload and what type of cloud storage it uses?

The unit I bought was a local DVR that is network accessible.  So you can view it from the internet but the files actually reside locally in the box.

i have kguard dvr with cloud storage the picture can upload but itz in the cloud the picture blank.why????

Hi, I don't use the cloud, I used the internal hard drive that I install myself.
