I believe the Kingston 1GB 240 pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2677 is incorrect for the desk top model Dell390
I believe what you need is 1GB Module - DDR2 800MHz
Part Number: KTD-DM8400C6/1G
Specs: DDR2, 800MHz, Non-ECC, CL6, 1.8V, Unbuffered, DIMM, 240-pin

It states System Specific (Dell) - will this work in other Desktops that take DDR2 667?

Yes this will work  in other machines that take DDR2 667.  I purchased this and used it in a clone machine that wasn't Dell and it has worked just fine with no issues.
