now will this product work in a new custom built computer with no regular hard drive?

This hard drive can be your primary hard drive. For my build I purchased a 120gb version for my OS only, and this 480gb version for programs and memory. Each connects to mb via standard SATA 3. They have been working flawlessly. One of my decisions in going with this manufacturer was learning the nation wide company I work for useses Kingston SSD's in all it corporate laptops, and I had never had a problem with mine.

I would be cloning crucial ssd 64 to  Kingston SSD V300 480G are there issue I running windows 7?

No there should not be any issues. Just use the software included to clone the drive and it should take care of the partition size change. Operating system shouldn't affect anything.

Will this fit a Macbook Pro, mid 2009, 5.5....?

It fits a standard 2.5 SATA drive slot, so should work for you if that is what you are replacing. Excellent drive, BTW.

I was wondering how to install the SSD and what is the adapter for?

This adapter is to make the SSD drive which is 2.5" form factor, adapt to a slot in a desktop rather than laptop.  Most desktop slots are 3.4".

Sometime you see a shim to make laptop 2.5" drives that are 7mm thick bulk up to 9mm.

To install the SSD hardware you need a screwdriver or two in my experience.

To install and keep the contents of an existing drive, you need some software and a cable/enclosure to connect the new drive to your system for the copying operation.

Is this Win XP compatible?

Since Windows XP doesn't support the TRIM command, all SSDs will perform terrible on it after an initial honeymoon period.

I'm running in a dual boot with W7 and Linux Mint 14 on 2 640gb disk drives. Can I use this SSD?

Hello Chuck,
I have been using this drive since Jan 2014. I must say that it is a vast improvement in terms of response time over a mechanical disk. I also dual boot win 8.1 and Linux. With Win 8.1 there are no issues with Linux depending on the version you implement, it may need  a separate driver loaded prior to it's installation. Give it a shot, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Can this drive be connected to a SATA 6Gb/s port or does it have to be connected to a 3Gb/s port?
