is it compatible with Acer Aspire 5742 laptop?

The short answer is NO. This stick does meet all of the Acer requirements for an upgrade to that laptop. But it is not a Kingston issue. I tried three different brands of memory on that laptop, and was on the phone with tech support with all of them, including three times with Acer. Bottom line was Acer doesn't really know what memory will work in their laptop. Kingston still rocks!

I have Macbook pro (Early 2011). If I buy one of this (8GB), Will it work on my Macbook?

Macs are very particular in their RAM selection, they like the speed to match. There are 14 different Macbook Pros for 2011, all the ones I checked used DDR3 1333, so the answer is "probably not".  While most PCs will just run the memory slower, Macs will tend to not start with the wrong speed installed.
