Yes it has RCA connections and a 3 position switch for on/off/auto positions. It also has rotary controls for volume and low frequency cut off setting. It's a decent well built solid sub.

Is it 220v Ac capable ?

All I can tell you is what is printed below the power cord on the rear case: 100-240V   50/60 Hz 2A.  I don't know if that answers your question, but if you are familiar with electronics,  it may help.

Yes, there's a power switch.  However, it also has an auto on/off feature that works tremendously well, in my experience, so I leave the main power on all the time!

I have Audioengine A2+ speakers and I was wondering if I can use this as my subwoofer?

My setup has the Klipsch k100 subwoofer connected to a Yamaha RX-V467 receiver; also connected to the receiver is a Harmon Kardon HKTS 18 home theater speaker system (the Klipsch k100 was to replace the subwoofer that came with this speaker system after it eventually failed). Assuming your *RECEIVER* supports both the speakers and the subwoofer, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I have a Yamaha R-S500 receiver 80w per channel is this powerful enough to power the subwoofer?

Yes, just because its rating is higher doesn't mean you need that power to drive it.  In fact, it's a powered sub, so it has its own amplifier internally.  I have really enjoyed this speaker - the sound is smooth but strong, and available adjustments sit me well to balance its output with my main speakers.

Is RCA the only audio in?

Correct  “LINE IN” Connection - Most of today’s surround receivers (and pre-amplifiers)
have a line level subwoofer output labeled Subwoofer Pre Out, Sub Out, SW
Out, etc. If you have this output, connect one end of a subwoofer cable to it
and connect the other end of the cable into the subwoofer line input labeled
LEFT/LFE. This connection allows the subwoofer to operate with both music
and surround sound movies (refer to your receiver manual). In absence of a
subwoofer output on your receiver, as an alternative hookup, you can connect
Left and Right channel Pre-Amp Outputs from your receiver (if provided) to the
Left/LFE and Right input on the subwoofer.

will this sub. improve the quality of sound from 4 in. bookshelf speakers?

It will add a low end to your sound allowing it to have a full body. Yes. 4 inch speakers usually are for high and the upper medium range, think talk radio and acoustic music. So I highly recommend a sub for the low end range even if this is not this one you end up getting. When setting it up, play around with the cross over to find what you think is best. And keep the gain low. Doing the opposite is best for a punchy base like that of EDM music, or metal with a fast bass drum beat.

This sub has a rear port. How far from the wall does it have to be?

Per Klipsch "a sub’s close proximity to a flat wall can cause a harsh, rumbling, unpleasant sound. And if your subwoofer is a ported design (a subwoofer with an opening to allow airflow), you’ll want to keep it twice the diameter of the port (typically 6-12 inches) away from a wall to allow airflow out of the port".
