Question 1

i have a large panasonic tv which on max volume is not loud enough.  will i need anything more than these two speakers?  will it easily connect with the panasonic without buying any other things which may be necessary.  i was confused by the amplifier...  do i still need an amplifier?

These are not powered speakers and are ordinarily driven by an amplifier. Your TV is not likely to produce enough power in wattage to drive them. In addition, most TVs do not have output terminals for speaker wire. On my setup, the TV is connected to a receiver (amplifier), and the Klipsch speakers are then connected, via speaker wire, to the speakers.

Is it active or passive system?

These are passive speakers. You will need an amplifier to drive them.

I've enjoyed them paired with a small SMSL SA50 amplifier. You don't need anything too powerful to drive them.

Color-Black or wood brown?

Black. On a technical note, I was disappointed in the high-end response. I like a sharp, crisp high end and, at flat equalizer setting, these speakers did not deliver. I was able to compensate with my receiver's equalizer, though. Good bass for such small speakers but I still augmented them with a subwoofer.

Is the KB-15 the same product as the Icon KB-15?

do they come in cherry?

No..not that I am aware of. I believe the Reference Series may come in Cherry though.

Am I seeing correctly that these have no mounting option?????  I have directional mounts that are threaded.

The speaker has no mounting attachment(BOOKSHELF SPEAKER). There is plenty of room on the back to attach your own wall mounting hardware if so desired.

I have a harman/Kardon AVR 1600 with Klipsch HD Theater 500 speakers & sub and would like to know if these Icon KB-15 would work to complete my 7.1 surround sound?

Can my Scientific Atlanta cable box drive these speakers - I don't have an amplifier and want to use these speakers for TV sound?

These speakers need an amplifier. If you don't want to purchase an amplifier I suggest looking for a pair of "active" speakers/monitors.
