Is this a wired speaker?

It is not wireless. It is a non-powered speaker pair that has standard binding post connectors and uses regular speaker wire.

does anyone know if they detach from the mounting brackets so you can store them away for the winter?

They are attached to the bracket by two bolts, the tops of which you can see in the picture.  So,yes, if you wanted to, you could remove them from the brackets for storage; though I don't see the point since they are outdoor speakers and I use them year round...even in winter.

are the speakers Bluetooth compatible?

No Bluetooth. They are just standard speakers and need an Amplifier or receiver to drive them

Can these be used to connect to a Mac computer to listen to music or are these used only for a stereo system?

You cannot connect these speakers directly to a computer, unless the sound card has a built in power amplifier(most likely not) . Not enough current/ power, to drive a set of passive speakers like these. You need to connect the computer output to an amp/stereo system, and the speakers to the amp.

Anyone have a suggestion as to what wire size to use for best performance?

I use 12 or 14 guage..  Maybe an overkill but my runs are a little longer.  I use low voltage lighting wire.  Cheaper and will withstand the elements better.
