Is this a speaker I can plug into my laptop or iphone ?

No, you need a self powered speaker such as a powered computer speaker that plugs in. The only way you could use it in that way in to have an amplifier or A/V type system to power the speaker. This is designed for home stereo systems.

I noticed that there are 2 inputs for speaker wires on each speaker?  I am replacing my front Klipsch speakers, that are bookshelf speakers, with the F20 and was wondering what the extra set of speaker inputs were for?

I have a 7.1 system with a sub and back rears to round out the system.

Bi-amping and bi-wiring
 It's becoming more common for higher-performance speakers to include dual sets of terminals, usually binding posts (see terminals, below). Models with dual terminals almost always also feature a special type of crossover with separate "high-pass" and "low-pass" sections.

Speakers with dual sets of terminals work fine when used with a single set of speaker cables. In fact, they usually come from the factory set up for conventional operation, with "jumpers" installed between the two sets. These jumpers can be easily removed for bi-amping or bi-wiring.
• Bi-amping means that instead of driving a speaker full-range with a single channel of amplification through a single set of speaker cables, you actually connect two sets of cables, with each set carrying the signal from a separate amplifier (or amp channel). This way, both low-frequency drivers (woofers) and high-frequency drivers (tweeters) receive dedicated amplification.
• Bi-wiring involves connecting two sets of cables to your speakers, like bi-amping, but both sets of cables connect to the same set of output connectors on your receiver or amplifier. Bi-wiring doesn't deliver more wattage to your speakers, so it doesn't offer as dramatic a sonic improvement as bi-amping. Still, many audiophiles find that it offers subtle improvements in imaging and detail.

Question 4

Is the bass from the speakers good enough to go without a sub-woofer? I really miss the old decent floor speakers of yesterday that had 10 inch woofers that sounded great for music. For space considerations I can either go with floor speakers and no sub, or small satellites and a sub (which I have now and is crap for music). Specs say down to 38hz but I doubt it. I'm thinking of going with a pair of Cerwin vega 3 ways with a 12 inch woofer. About twice the price. So how is the bass on these?

That's a good question. I guess it would depend on your receiver. I bought 4 F20 and have a C20 center with a 12 inch down firing subwoofer Klipsch all with Onkyo 609. I can tell you this, the towers with Subwoofer turned off sound great but with Subwoofer on you feel it. If your wanting to go without a Subwoofer I would step up to the F30s. larger woofers. I did go from B20s 4 and 2 10 inch  Klipsch subs and this setup kicks it's butt. Receiver at 72 is deafening. I hope this helps.

Do you  have to wire these speakers to your tv?

No - They Goto Home Theater System, in my case Onkyo which is connected to TV and a Projector.

TVs do not have enough output to support !

I have a RX-v377 Yamaha Reviever. 85W/Channel @ 8 (Recommended) or 6 Ohm.
I see that the recommended power is 100 so I guess my question is.

Can I run 2 of these?

I did a lot of research before buying these speakers. Here is what I've learned:

The sensitivity or SPL of these speakers is 95.5 dB @ 8 Ohms. This means that at 1 meter away from the speaker, the speaker produces 95.5 dB of sound using 1 watt of power. In comparison, normal speech is about 60 dB and movie theaters are around 80 dB with peaks of 100 dB. In the average "real world living space", the SPL reduces 3-4 dB as you double the distance away from the speaker. To make up for the lost dB, you have to double the power. So at 2 meters away from the speaker, you would need ~2 watts of power to hear it at 95.5 dB. If you sit 4 meters away from the speaker(~13 ft), then 64 W could drive these speakers to ~107 dB. (Note that listening to sound levels at 100 dB for 2 hours can cause permanent hearing loss)

To answer your question directly, if you maxed out your receiver at 85 w, then these speakers could produce 100 dB of sound at ~17 feet away. Of course this depends on your room's space and sound structure. But a quick ball park figure is if you plan on sitting within 17 feet from your speakers, you shoudl be able to hear the sound loud and clear.

By the way, these speakers are AWESOME and worth it. I would purchase these, and if you find your amp can't drive the speakers loud enough, then get a new amp, because the speakers are top notch!

Would you buy four of these for say a 5.1 system, or are they best used in  2.1?  Also, what receiver can someone recommend for these?

I use the F-20's for the front channels on a 5.1 system, with S-10's for the surround speakers. The surround speakers carry basically echoes and environmental sounds help 'fill' the room. The power levels to the surround speakers are much lower that to the front speakers, and the surround speakers are designed to disperse the sound over a much wider angle than the front speakers. (Think flood light versus spotlight.) If I am playing music CDs or other 2 channel input, I deselect the surround speakers, and listen through just the pair of F-20's. I drive the speakers through a Harmon Kardon AVR 1650 5.1 receiver and in the relatively small room the system is in, the sound is clear and undistorted even at levels that are incredibly high. (Think live rock concert, front row!)

No, you connect it to an amplifier with speaker wires.  It doesn't have a built in amplifier, so it must be powered by an amp.  And, you pretty much need two of them.

How long did it take you to break these in? Was there a noticeable difference in sound quality after?

I have not experienced any "break-in" time. The sound delivered is indeed jaw-dropping to everyone who has come over to listen to my system, which uses these as my rear surround-sound speakers, F-30s in front, C-30 in center, and an RTR 12" subwoofer. I set crossover at 100 kHz for the RTR and left the others at 80 kHz for an earth-shaking bass experience. This is all paired with a Denon AVR and a Samsung 60" plasma. My house isnt that big so i havent turned the speakers up past 70, thats how powerful they are.
