I just brought 2 of these...but they did not come with hard drives...what do I put in them for storage?

Install a sata hard drive. Four screws hold it in place, plug in data cable and power cable (all supplied) and you're good to go.

Does this system capable of email notification?

Yes, it is capable of email notification. However, you don't want to do it because you will end up with a bunch of false positive email notification. The DVR has decent motion detection but it can't detect between trees/shadow moving or actual person moving.

I have a D-Link DNS-327L NAS storage device. Is this product compatible with this? ie: will I be able to record, to this NAS? what software would I use? is the software included compatible?

No, you would have to install a independent hard drive inside this laview dvr...there is a sata connector inside...unfortunately, that is the sadest part...I have a d-link 343 nas at home too...I don't think any security dvr that has capability to record to any nas...and also this system does not come with remote...it's a little hard to navigate...you have to use the mouse...

If it constantly streams via the cloud, it can rack up a ton of bandwidth. Can anyone tell me about this? I want to install it in a vactation home but is it constantly loading bandwidth to keep an archive of all video on the cloud or is it uploading on demand?

The DVR does not SAVES ALL DATA TO THE CLOUD. the Cloud function is for you to make a backup of an event that you want to save or send it to authorities. The Cloud features is only for Backing up video footage that is important. Cloud feature can be setup via Dropbox or Baidu.

P2P uses Laview Cloud but is only for remote view with out port forwarding.

Is it possible to save the video to both the hard drive and the cloud?  I have not been able to record to Dropbox, all I get is a text file. how do I configure that? Also, if you record 24/7 instead of by motion, how much data is that per day, with all the settings set by default?

if your using outside camera(s). simple record operation is 24/7.  if your indoor want only certain time periods the system can do as well. data storage is based on the dvr storage format and camera tvl.. The better quality dvr and  per camera, the larger AV type HD needs.

System cameras is very good, but be careful with the installation because the cables can not be stretched or bent sharply otherwise depart inside and then there are problems with the image, so I recommend it for others price and quality
