Can you enable motion sensing for some cameras and disable motion sensing for other cameras?  Thank you.

Yes.  You can also do zones so you can specify parts of camera views that motion will be ignored for.  There is also a sensitivity to motion setting, though I haven't seen a difference with it.

NOTE:  At night "light" is seen as motion, as the pixels change, so things like headlights will set off motion sensors on less advanced systems like this.

Question 3

Will this unit’s software allow selective rewinding (based on a time bar), and playing back recorded video, with pauses as needed, while the unit is still recording?  Can the playback be fast forwarded?  Is the fast forward of variable speed?

There are times with my present LaView unit that I need to scan through an entire night of recording to provide police video of the activity.  It just not practical with my present unit which only replays at real-time speed.  It makes captured video data almost useless.

You can playback and rewind to any point, pausing as necessary, without affecting recording.  You can fast forward at a 2x rate, or just click the progress bar and jump forward.

There is no way to make it playback super fast, and AFAIK no consumer grade player will do that kinda TV magic.  The thing is, to view that you need a REALLY REALLY fast hard drive or SSD drive in order to access the data that fast, OR, you need something that skips lots of frames.

I had an alarm company call me once, said my back door was open.  I jumped on my computer, rewound a few minutes, and saw that an *extremely* powerful wind gust had blown my back doors open.  It was handy and I was able to stay on the phone with the alarm company while figuring it out.
