Lenovo Chromebook 500e Gen 5 M89 83TA0004US 12.2" Touchscreen MediaTek 8GB 64GB

The Lenovo Chromebook 500e Gen 5 M89 (83TA0004US) is a 12.2-inch touchscreen 2-in-1 Chromebook with 8GB of memory and 64GB of storage, suited to students and everyday users who want a touch-enabled device for web-based work and ChromeOS apps.

Recommended For

• K–12 students carrying a laptop between school and home who mainly use browser-based assignments and benefit from a touchscreen, spill-resistant keyboard, and convertible laptop, tent, and tablet modes.
• Students or educators who alternate typing with touch-based reading, presenting, or classroom activities; the 12.2-inch touchscreen and 360-degree hinge support laptop, tent, and tablet use.
• Schools standardizing on ChromeOS for student devices and seeking a convertible designed for education use, with replaceable service components and options for managed ChromeOS deployment.
• Mobile users whose school or everyday tasks are mostly web-based and who want a compact device that can connect to classroom or desk peripherals through USB-C, USB-A, and HDMI.

Real-World Use Scenarios

• A student uses Google Classroom and browser-based school apps to check assignments, write documents, and submit classwork; it suits routine online coursework without needing a traditional desktop setup.
• During a lesson, a student folds the Chromebook into tablet mode to read, tap through activities, or annotate digital materials; a compatible USI pen can support handwriting, but pen inclusion depends on configuration.
• A student carries it between classes or between school and home for daily assignments; its convertible design and education-focused durability are intended to handle regular movement and everyday classroom bumps and spills.
• At home or in class, a student joins an online lesson or group call and follows along with shared materials; the Chromebook’s camera and collaboration-oriented design support this kind of school communication.
• For everyday personal use, someone browses the web, checks email, streams video, or edits cloud documents; these browser-centered tasks fit the Chromebook format, while the listed configuration is not aimed at demanding desktop software workflows.
