How many USB ports does this unit have?

There are 5 USB ports.  There are 2 USB 2.0 ports on the right side (one near the front and one near the back) and 1 USB 2.0 port on the left.  There are also 2 USB 3.0 ports on the left side (both near the front).  There is also 1 HDMI port on the left along with 1 VGA port.  The yellow power jack is on the right near the back.   On the right front edge there is an SD card slot for loading photos, etc.  There are no ports of any type on the back.

In the event that you don't know, USB 3.0 ports are much faster than USB 2.0.  The plastic insulators inside the connectors of USB 3.0 ports are blue to distinguish them from USB 2.0 ports which are colored black.  Knowing this you can sometimes recognize them in photos.

This machine was purchased to replace an old Dell laptop of the same size that was running Win XP.  Operationally, it's slightly different from the Dell (mostly in the keyboard) but I'm generally quite happy with it at the price.  It boots and runs much faster than the old Dell machine.  Both have 4GB physical memory but the XP machine is only 32 bits and can't use all of the 4GB memory.  The Lenovo is 64 bits and can use it all.

Does this laptop have a camera?

Hi Jeff:
     Yes, this model does have a camera.  This laptop has been a very good choice so far.  Only one slight complaint is the touchpad is sometimes a little "too touchy," so it may perform an action before you have a chance to click the mouse.  Other than that there is plenty of power, etc.  I only use it for business as I have a desktop at home for everything else.

How much does the B590 weigh?

The specs say 5.5 pounds, but I don't think the computer itself is much over about 3 pounds. I think their 5.5 pounds includes all the packaging and the power brick as well.

I've never thought of monitor screens as glossy or matte but I would have to say closer to matte than glossy.

Not as far as I can tell.  I've searched the user's manual for Bluetooth and the only reference is this:
"Your Bluetooth card is compliant to Bluetooth Specification 4.0 as defined by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group SIG, it supports the following profiles:.... "  Unfortunately, that text is under Appendix A: Regulatory Information.  There is no other reference to Bluetooth anywhere.  The same Appendix A also mentions the "Wireless LAN PCI Express Mini Card" but the rest of the manual also discusses its use, WIMAX compatibility and even how to remove and install the adapter.  I think the Bluetooth mention is just a general regulatory notice and probably in all of their manuals.

Yes, I prefer Windows 7 over Windows 8. Windows 8 is a good operating system for tablet / touch screen devices however it is not as efficient as Windows 7 if using a non-touch screen. Our corporation has chosen to stay with Windows 7 and skip upgrading to Windows 8 entirely. We are hoping that Windows 9 will be better suited for businesses when released next year.

what is Windows Profession consist of? Does this computer come with Word, Excel and PowerPoint?

It's the Windows 7 Professional operating system.  There are very MINOR variations between Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Home Edition, etc. - you can google for that information.  It does not come with Microsoft Office programs (ie: Word, Excel, etc) - those need to be purchased and installed separately.  All laptops/notebooks, etc have built in wifi - this one included.  You just need to find a signal at home through your router or modem with wifi, or your local coffee shop, etc.

I forget the specs, but it is significantly lighter than my old laptop, which was a Toshiba Tecra (and only had a 14" screen)!
