Does this have a DVD or DVDrw?  Touchscreen? backlit? (Would love the DVD but the other 2 are mere frosting )

Yes, screen is back lit but not a touch xcreen. Back light on ours went out. Warranty support was excellent .

Not sure about the dvd. Have not had the need to write one.

does this model come in a 15" monitor and, if so, what is the difference in cost?

Available as a 15.6" model as the E540.  Just do a search online and you should be able to find one.  Price is probably a few dollars more than the 14" model.

Is this new or refurbished? (Doesn't say refurbished so perhaps new is implied, but I'd like to be sure)
