Click on the specifications tab in NewEgg, it mentions max RAM is 8GB but apaprently there is only 1 RAM slot so you need a single 8GB RAM card.

No optical drive is included, so no it doesn't have a CD'DVD drive.

There is no optical drive on this laptop, which personally I found to be an advantage.  It helps the S415 to be much lighter and thinner.

External USB drives are available pretty cheaply nowadays, so you can always get one of those for when you do want an optical drive.  That's what I did, I got an LG external DVD burner from Newegg for less than $25 shipped.

No. There is no optical drive built in, one of the reasons it is light & thin. But if needed you can easily plug an external drive into one of the USB ports.

Mine did not. I installed office 2010. I would highly recommend Open Office if money is an issue

Speed of the AMD processor is 2.0 Ghz. It has a 500 Gig hard drive (SATA) and 4 Gig of RAM...

Similar to a Intel i-3 chip in terms of speed... just a bit slower.

Wouldn't recommend anything slower or with less RAM than this.

I am a MAC user purchased for my granddaughters... They wanted a Windows machine :<(    Very similar to laptops labeled as "ultra book's" Very light weight  (thin)... To me a 14" is the perfect size ... weight is only 4 pounds. Touch Screen gives the user the feel of using a tablet. Excellent buy! An equivalent WIndows 8 lap-top would cost between $500-$600.

Great value for a Windows machine but it's no MAC... I love my MAC Book Pro! Have been working with computers since 1963... Have personally owner 14-16 PCs since they first came out in 1982. Am a power user that frequently taxes a machine due to the number of applications I use concurrently.

Your warranty is usually not voided unless you open up something you are not meant to open up...which usually does not include the hdd, wifi card or memory panels on a laptop...Every warranty is however different and you can probably find detailed warranty information on the manufacturers website if you want to know before you buy...
