does it contain the cd for operating system?

No. You must call the manufacturer to get those as is the case with many retailers now. It does seem to indicate you can create a recovery disk and Windows 8 still gives you the ability to create a repair disk.
The Windows 8 product key is buried in the BIOS now. To get that key you must use a program like Belarc. Belarc will also show the keys for all other installed software where applicable.
I ran the Win 8.1 upgrade. It took about 1 1/2 hrs because it does a full reinstall then reconfigs your apps.

Hello, has this Laptop a touch Screen? The Headline doesn`t say so, but the description below Shows the Picture and an indication, that it has a glass touch screen

The image in the description is labeled incorrectly, and some other websites have it listed as a touchscreen laptop. The U510 Ultrabook does not have a touchscreen LCD display.

Does it come with any spyware or anti viris software?

Yes, I believe McAfee is installed on it.  I always remove any antivirus right away and let Windows Defender be the antivirus protection. I also install Malwarebytes PRO on all the computers I setup.
I've been a computer tech for over 15 years.  I purchase this one for a good customer.

Go to the "Windows 8 Home Page" by pressing the "Windows Key" on your keyboard. It's to the left of your space bar and it has four squares enclosed by a circle.

Once there, press the "Store" tile. It's big, green, and has a shopping bag on the front of it. Scroll around and you'll see the offer for "Upgrade to Windows 8.1 for free."

That's it.

Turns out that in the operating system the reference is to Windows 8 in some parts but Windows 7 in others so you can transfer from your Vista or Windows 7 computer to this one with apparent compatibility.
My principle complaint is with the "click" mechanism, which does not have separate buttons but a single plate which toggles for right click and left side for left click.
It takes getting used to which I have not yet done.
It ain't that responsive and would be better if different buttons as on the Toshiba from which I transferred files and which I am used to using.

I thought it should have it when I purchased it...  It even appears to have that function on the keyboard... but it does not appear to work.  Not sure if it is just my unit or the entire batch.  let me know if you find out otherwise.

is the keyboard backlit? Is the screen resolution good for hd video?

Yes, the keyboard has a white backlight that can be turned on and off.

The screen resolution is 1366x768.  It is fine for HD Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime Video, but obviously not as nice as it might have been with a 1080p panel.  Of course, a lot of people probably won't notice the difference when streaming HD content in full screen mode.

does this unit have a backlit keyboard? I see comments regarding large keyboards.. I love Lenovo keyboards. 6GBram  3.0 i5 proc with SSD boot plus TB with good graphics.... if the keypad is backlit... buying one today.

I bought the same unit several months ago and it came with a backlit keyboard.  My only comment is that Newegg's web page shows a price a lot higher than the sub-0.5 K sale price they were offering last Fall.

I am just exploring and learning a lot on my Lenovo Idea Pad U510>  I only see Word Pad on this computer!   i was hoping to see Microsoft Word or Office!
