No, but the mouse pad does offer a two finger scrolling option which makes navigation a piece of cake.  I've had my laptop about 6 months and love it.

No, It doesn't come with Microsoft Word. However, you can download free open source office software that is compatible with Word, such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice

No, this is not a touch screen. But you can use your mouse an hover it to the side of the screen and the contents move as if you had swiped it with your finger.

How long will this run on battery?

It would appear the battery life is exceptional. I have purposely not charged it so that it will deplete and can take a new full charge.
I am disappointed in the amount of advertisements, the unbelievable difficulties with having to use the complicated log in code, an image recognition that does not work in low light conditions and the mini second time to enter the short log in code. This machine is not even in the same ball park as the I7 Samsung I bought from you 2 or 3 years ago. I would not recommend this product to anyone. My only regret is that I did not buy another Samsung I7 from you even though the  price would have been more. You get what you pay for.

Sorry, but this product does not come with a stylus/pen that works on the screen.
This laptop is not touchscreen either.
However, I can say from experience, you will not be dissatisfied from purchasing this computer. It is super fast and reliable, has a great RAM and internal storage. The best feature however is its capabilities. It comes with an HDMI and webcam built in with a USB 3.0. The only thing it seems to be lacking is a touchscreen. If that is what you are looking for, then this laptop is not for you. By if you want a fast, reliable laptop that will last a few years then stop looking!

If I get this laptop, I'd want to replace the OS with Linux (Ubuntu, to be specific). Would I run into any difficulties and/or oddities specific to this laptop?

Sorry can't answer that, but I will say that as soon as the warranty expires I am going back to WIN 7 Ultimate.
