ADOBE 99%Unlike some monitors that are deficient in blue and green colors, LG’s ColorPrime Monitor has 99% coverage of the Adobe RGB and 100% coverage of the sRGB, the standard color spectrum of perfect color reproduction. ColorPrime Monitor is a great solution for professional photography, graphic design or anywhere highly accurate color is needed. This monitor is also hardware calibration ready that helps boost color adjustment to the optimal level. (Converting color mode between Adobe RGB and sRGB is available on the ‘Color Mode’ menu.)
10-BIT COLORThe 10-bit color display is 64 times more of the color spectrum than an 8-bit color display, re-creating colors softly and naturally without color banding.
WIDE QUAD HIGH RESOLUTIONExperience a new level of viewing pleasure with LG IPS ColorPrime Monitor's Wide Quad High Definition (WQHD) featuring *4 times the resolution of standard HD for a stunning picture quality. (*WQHD (2560*1440) pixel resolution may not work depending on content, device, interface or graphic card.)
PORTRAIT DISPLAY MODENeed to design using a vertical view? No problem, with LG’s portrait display mode. Now you can easily work on vertically oriented graphics like a magazine with one simple pivot.
DUAL LINK UPThe Dual Link-up* feature allows two compatible portable devices, like a computer, camera, phone, or Blu-ray player, to be connected to the monitor and viewed on a single screen simultaneously. (To use Dual Link-up, one device must be connected to the DisplayPort the other must be connected to either the HDMI or DVI port.)
Pros: I picked up two of these monitors during a sale newegg had a while back. I'm not sure it's possible to beat build quality and color quality of these monitors for the price I got them at. I'm a programmer, so I don't necessarily use these monitors for graphic design or photography. I was immediately able to tell the difference, however, when watching movies, playing games, or even simply editing highlighted text. The 2560x1440 resolution, the accurate colors, and the brightness makes these monitors truly shine. The bases also have a very strong grip to my desk, so they don't move around. The ability to turn the monitor into a portrait aspect ratio is *extremely* convenient as a programmer. I'll sometimes pull up large bodies of text, PDFs, or documentation in portrait mode.
Cons: Plugging in the USB to my computer causes the monitors to emit an somewhat audible high pitched sound when they're asleep. This sound normally wouldn't bother me, but it is burdensome when trying to sleep (they're in close proximity to my bed). My solution was simply to not use the USB ports on these monitors. That's okay though, as I bought these for their display quality rather than USB support. Don't even try to use the touch controls in a dark room. It's a recipe for failure.
Overall Review: I'm using a 2013 Retina MacBook Pro 15" to drive these monitors. I'd recommend buying Mini Displayport to Displayport cables, as the cables are "small" and can run the monitors at full resolution. The monitors are also auto-detected by my computer when they're turned on, which is kind of nice. I didn't notice this behavior when using Mini DisplayPort to DVI converters.
