Pros: Great color, with some calibration I couldn't be more pleased. Analog sound output was an unexpected plus as the computer it is hooked up to, an Alienware Alpha does not have one. I can now send sound via HDMI and pass it through the monitor to my speakers which saved me a few bucks instead of buying a usb adapter. There were no dead pixels and backlight bleed is nonexistent! Both of these issues had cropped up in the last couple monitors I have purchased so I am glad it is not the case this time. The monitor is large as expected, but not to the point of seeing any reduction of visual quality being a 1080p panel. The interface to adjust monitor settings is easy enough to use and the physical buttons have a nice tactile feel. A major plus (for me at least) is that the power button only glows when the monitor is turned on, and turns off shortly after.
Cons: If I had to nitpick I would have to say the power adapter is a bit of a letdown as it is rather large (of course this allows LG to make the monitor thinner) and blocks two plug slots on my surge protector. Of course, this can be alleviated by plugging it in on the end so it really isn't that big a deal. I haven't noticed any major delay (well it IS a 5ms panel) compared to my BenQ TN panel however as of yet I have not put it through any "hardcore" gaming tests. Though the color is outstanding, I could see how some would want the monitor to be just a tad bit brighter, but without having to max the brightness I am quite pleased.
Overall Review: I bought this on sale and do not regret it at all. I had not purchased an LG monitor before and did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this monitor. I would definitely recommend to those looking for a 27" monitor who do not want to a few hundred more for a slightly better one.
Pros: This was really a great deal with the free 128 GB SSD. It has much better viewing angles than my old LG 22" monitor (L227WTG), uses less power, and is lighter. It doesn't really wobble any more than my old monitor did. No dead pixels and very bright.
Cons: The power cord wasn't long enough to reach my battery backup unit. I wasted a lot of time tweaking the default settings before discovering the ICM profile on the installation disk. I wish the stand would swivel. A one year warranty seems a bit short for a monitor.
Overall Review: I wound up using the "27MP33.icm" color profile that came on the included CD. (The default profile in Fedora was making everything look way too dark.) I couldn't find the file anywhere on LG's website so you might not want to throw your disk away.
Pros: Price - Got the monitor on sale and with coupon for $169.99 Colors - IPS display produces very nice natural colors. Some will complain that the picture is dark, but to me it is more natural and not washed out. Even on a word document the white is very white and black is very black making the text very easy to read. Side by side with a Samsung 24" Twisted Nematic monitor the Samsung is quite a bit brighter, but it looks much more washed out and I thought it had a great picture. Viewing angle - The IPS display provides a great viewing angle. Very light weight for 27"
Cons: Stand is a bit flimsy, most these days seem to be. Power is a wall wart, would prefer a standard power cable with internal PSU or a power brick with a standard chord.
Overall Review: Would like to take a moment to criticize Barbara M. and her useless review. I understand it is frustrating when your package is not complete, or in your case you threw the screws to the stand out. That however does not merit a 1 egg review that provides no detail at all as to the quality or functionality of the item being reviewed. The information you provided while potentially useful for others who purchase the monitor should be in the other thoughts section. If you are going to give a 1 egg review it should have at least something to do with the product quality and or performance.
Pros: Black Friday deal for $179.99 Great lighting have not had issues with being to dark at all. Great for 1080p 60Hz Gaming. Nice construction No dead pixels
Cons: Honestly for the price of the monitor I do not seem any cons.
Overall Review: The refresh rate and response time seems to be spot on, 60hz-5ms, you have to change the response time otherwise it looks bad. I went to this monitor from a 2ms 1080p 75hz samsung syncmaster and I will never look back.
Pros: Nice clear bright display. Thin. I had just wanted a bigger monitor but was surprised at how much better the display is to the old one. Also makes my TV as second monitor look bad in comparison. By the way, black borders on HDMI is easily fixed by going to overscan options in video card settings.
Cons: No DVI. DVI is nice to use as an input switch. Base is flimsy but I'm not using it.
Pros: Nice picture after adjustments. Very light weight. My swing arm mount supports it easily. Fast enough for gaming. Excellent sale price.
Cons: Very short power supply cable. Poorly optimized settings from factory. More input options would have been nice. The supplied monitor stand is pretty wobbly and it does not rotate. Doesn't come supplied with HDMI cable.
Overall Review: A short extension cord easily rectifies the problem of the short power cable. Other reviewers have considered the fact that this monitor has an external power brick as a con. I feel that anything that saves weight inside the monitor itself is a pro, especially when using a swing arm mount. This monitor weighs just over half of my 8 year old 22" LCD. This monitor had a factory setting called super resolution+ enabled by default. This setting made images look very pixelated. Disabling this setting greatly improved image quality. This monitor also came with the brightness set to 100 by default. I had to lower this to 35, otherwise the display was too bright and washed out, even in my very well lit room.
Pros: For the price I don't think this thing can be beat @179 w/ the promo code. I haven't noticed any problems with it, yet. As usual I had to turn the brightness way down for my use. I'm in a room with full sunlight on 3 sides and have no problem. 27 inches might be a bit large for 1080 resolution, but I can sit back further and that's a plus. With adjustments it's better to the eye than the smaller, $300 Samsung it's replacing. Good performance in games, video and regular web browsing.
Cons: The stand is a bit wobbly, but it has VESA mounting holes available. Blinking white light when it goes into standby mode, but you can power it off to avoid that.
Pros: A nice sized panel to use with a media player in a not-overly-bright room. Has a headphone / audio out jack, which is good because it does not have speakers. Slim design fits nicely on a wall mount in the corner.
Cons: No speakers, as I mentioned. Only has VGA and HDMI, no DVI connection. The brightness spec (200 cd) is less than most competitors. Wall-wart power block with a rather short cord.
Overall Review: I'm got this for 180 to use as a media player in a basement rec-room; add a pair of speakers and it makes a nice upgrade from the 23" monitor it replaces.
