I said before that i has an HDMI input, but actually is an output, because the machine does not record anything, is just a player, and a very good one.

Can you play movies and watch photos from USB drive?

If it won't read ".mkv" try changing the extension to ".avi"  MS Windows uses the two extensions to decide which program should play the files.  Many years ago those extensions represented specific file formats, but that is no longer followed much.  You'll find that some ".avi" files won't play on this machine and that some ".mkv" files will IF the extension is changed.  Once the extension is changed then the "real" question is what compression technique was used.... which should have been its only concern in the first place.  Poor programming on someone's part in my opinion.
