Pros: Connected to USB port with supplied cable and worked immediately
Very quiet operation
Purchased primarily as a reader (see remarks below) and is working as expected
Has CyberLink's 'Media Suite 10 for DVD' disk with package (not used here) which has software on it.
Cons: Not the fastest runner on the track team, but then, you are cramming data into a USB port too. Reads fast enough, just not what I am accustomed to for an optical drive (see notes below)
Overall Review: My Windows 10 (64 bit Pro) system suddenly elected not to recognize either of two installed optical drives. Because of a need to reload one piece of software that I use often, I was at a loss. Repair Windows 10..... Can't; the optical drives are dead. BIOS shows them as EMPTY. Only option was to purchase a USB drive as the USB ports were working correctly. Most likely, once I get the Windows issue totally resolved, this will be shelved and become a 'Reserve' component, but for now....it is the lifeboat.
For general use, as a USB drive, I would have to give it all 5 stars. It does what it says it will do, fairly well. It is portable, although bump sensitive. The cable is 23" long (on mine) with is long enough to reach most USB ports. And, most importantly, the price is right.
Pros: Windows 7 &'Windows 10 recognized this drive as soon as it was plugged in to the USB port. The drive operated as well as my internal drives. The drive is made well and is very compact making it easy to store.
