Overall Review: What is WRONG with some of the "in-experienced" who write ridiculous reviews on the Egg?? This thing is a mechanical device. If you're one of the VERY few who got a defective drive, well, that just happens. If you don't know what "OEM" stands for, then stop complaining about it arriving in bubble wrap without software!!! This drive is for someone who builds systems and doesn't need all that garbage, cheapo low-rated burning software. Go to some brick and mortar store, buy the retail version with software, and see how much you're going to spend!! I am so fed up with the bozos who give negative reviews when they obviously don't know what they're talking about. I have built numerous systems over the years, and I have purchased many DVD burners. This one rocks! In fact, I liked it so much, I just ordered three more. And what a steal of a price!! Go NEW EGG!

Pros: Burns 24X!!! On Ritek R05 media +R and Verbatim +R MCC04. Quiet burner (until it hits about 16-18X). Runs XP01 Firmware right now, Comes with OEM software!! only 25Beans Free Ship! ITs in a Esata enclosure with USB 2.0. works back and forth between My Uber Quad core Windows 7 PC and my 2009 Mac Mini

Cons: Only burns 18X of Sony D21 media +R, but i dont think thats the burner's fault, LiteOn and samsungs usually burn that speed on D21s.

Overall Review: LGs have become my new favorite burners. I have destroyed at least a dozen DVD burners in the last 5 years, they are the only 2 left standing. The absolute worst burners BenQ/Acer and HP. The best error correcting DVD burners are by far the Samsungs, The SH162, SH182 and SH203 burners were awesome. Ive had several liteons LH20s DH18s and they were great DVD speed rippers, but their manufacturing got to them. After a few years, my LH20A1L just wouldnt open anymore. I was supprised by the KG GH22LP series, it was quick, good and ripping and above average error correction/ management. A good blend of all my favorite burners, so i got it! get one. FYI this is not a light scriber! look at the other series of LGs for label makig!

Pros: Cheap, very simple to install and Windows 7 64 bit recognized and installed the drivers, runs movies just fine and burns DVDs just fine.

Overall Review: This is a "BULK OEM" drive please don't expect to get all the cables and burning software with it, this is why it so cheap.

Pros: Great drive! Works well and has a SATA interface

Cons: Included burning software is stripped of features, which will only run in eval mode during demo period.

Overall Review: Go with a drive which provides you better burning/ripping software. Otherwise you're probably just wasting money.

Pros: Fast burning speeds (burned 54mins of audio in under 3mins), mostly quiet until it really spools up...then kind of noisy, plug-and-play install (win 7 x64)
