Hi; I have an LG Volt with Virgin Mobile USA plan; I dropped the phone and it is badly damaged; I want to get a replacement; will this phone be compatible with Virgin Mobile USA?

The LG Volt that I bought from Newegg uses Sprint prepaid service, however I think if you can salvage the sim card from your damaged phone, and put it in the new Volt it just might work. You really should ask Virgin Mobile support, good luck.

specs site internal memory as 8 gb ram but several comments indicated they found 4 gb  only installed after phone start up. Does anyone know which is correct. 8 gb should be standard on phones of this category.

Andorid operating system and other default apps takes close to 4 gb storage leaving 4 gb for other usage. This is true with any phone. Its great phone, you won't be disappointed.

Do you know if this product can be used with virgin mobile or krogeriwireless?

I'm using this phone with Ting which uses the Sprint network. I'm not sure if it will work with virgin but I think krogeriwireless uses the Sprint network as well.

I don't have a clear answer but let me tell you my story.

I bought this phone to be used on ClearTalk Network.

The first time i took the phone to Cleartalk they said they weren't able to flash it (or unlock) the phone.
After this i found many websites that offer unlock codes for a few dollars. 
I took the phone again to the cell provider to ask the reason why the phone wasn't flashed, I was curious to see if the phone was compatible with the carrier or just a flashing issue. 
This time they were able to flash it (or unlock) the phone. 
Since that my wife is been using the phone without issues. 
The only problem i see is a warning of "invalid sim card".
So i can tell there's a chance of this phone can be unlocked to other networks or countries but there's always a risk.

Is this GSM or CDMA? In other words, do you need a SIM card or don't.

This phone is designed for use on the Sprint talk/text (2G) and low-speed data (3G) CDMA network, AND Sprint's 4G LTE high-speed data network. Since 4G LTE networks are based on GSM technology, the phone has a SIM card slot. However, I believe the SIM card on this phone is designed solely for the 4G LTE data network, and therefore will not allow interoperability on traditional GSM networks for talk/text. In short, talk/text is by CDMA, and 4G LTE is by SIM-required GSM.
