Question 1

How do you put the drive rails on a DVD drive?  I'm not seeing a way to properly mount the drive yet, but I'm sure I'm overlooking it.

The case comes with a parts box, this was not listed when I purchased.  In the parts box is bag of various screws, metal brackets(for 5.25" hardware), and plastic brackets.  Same as with toolless cases you use 2 plastic HDD brackets (1 on each side and use a screw to fasten).  then HDD slides into slot and clicks in place.  Just squeeze bracket tabs to remove HDD from slot.  Great bonus is they include a 2.5" adapter.  The center 5.25" bay has an adapter that mounts 4 2.5" HDDs in one slot!!!

Can you fit an R9 390 in it? Does it require removing some/all of the hard drive cages?

This 4U case is HULK super sized.  It is extra long for cooling bracket that holds 4 80mm fans separating the HDD racks from Mobo area.  Keep in mind that the total length of the case 2.5 feet.  Almost a yard stick LONG!!!!  Right now hold your arm up.  Thats not even close to the length of the case (I didn't ask your height cuz doesn't matter your arm probably 3/4 length).  You can fit just about all the contents of the room its in inside the case and still be good 2 go.  All 3 f my kids made a fort out of the box this showed up in.  They all fit in it (6,9,12 years old)!!  I dare you to find a card that fits any enclosed case and not this.
