Pros: We have between 50 - 100 of these company wide and have only had one go bad (probably due to abuse more than hardware failure). The battery life and range is great!
Cons: None that I can think of.
Overall Review: Be sure to pull the marble out every once in a while and clean it.
Pros: Awesome feel, even with my large hands. As good or better than my old USB wired version of this trackball No inconvenient USB cable. Maintains solid connection at 2m.
Cons: It seems you need to install logitech software to use two buttons to the left of the standard buttons and wheel, but then again, I may be missing something and they aren't required.
Overall Review: I got this trackball because I've used logitech thumb-operated trackball for years now, without a single problem. I love this design. I imagine it'd be cheaper with USB wired version, but it's 2011, time to upgrayedd !
Pros: Built to last, comfortable fit in the hand, smooth action, easy to clean, long battery life.
Cons: After nearly two years... None!
Overall Review: As a follow-up reveiw, I have had two of these in use for two years in Feb... each has had only one battery change since the original. These are easy to clean and the form is comfortable in the hand. I have had no issues with these on any OS I have used including Win 7, Win 8, Solaris, and the latest Ubuntu and Fedora releases. I recommend these to all my clients and will be keeping a couple in stock as spares/sale units.
Pros: Easy setup
Good wireless reception
Makes ergonomic sense for me.
Fits my large hand pretty well. (would be nice if they made these in different sizes.)
Cons: The trackball needs to be used hard for a couple of minutes to break in the mechanism.
Overall Review: I had a previous version that was silver with a red trackball. It was still working after 5-6 years of heavy use, but the spring was getting weak under the left button. The new trackball works even more smoothly after a short break in period and the buttons are nice and crisp. I keep it on the arm of my recliner and it is a big help ergonomically for me.
Pros: I had the wired version of this mouse for years, and loved it. The paint is worn I've used it so much. I finally decided to get the wireless version and couldn't be happier. Not only does it feel better and have a smoother action, it has 2 additional buttons. Range, battery life, and receiver storage are all excellent. Would buy again in a second, if you are considering it, buy it. You won't be sorry ; )
Cons: - My girlfriend left me,
Overall Review: + But she bought me this first ; )
Pros: I have owned every consumer version of Logitech's Trackman since they started selling them. I currently own about 7 for all the different machines I use. This is a much needed update to the previous wireless Trackman Wheel. The new transceiver is much more convenient and apparently powerful. I haven't had the signal drop out yet. The M570 Trackman feels rather similar to the wired Trackman Wheel which for me is a very good thing. The buttons are a fine addition and are located in a good position as they do not interfere if I choose to ignore them. The new color scheme has a kind of biometric metallic look which is growing on me. If I get a wireless keyboard in the series, I really like that I don't have to tie up a second USB port. I especially like that it has a storage compartment for the transceiver. I plan to get one for my laptop and take advantage of this. Setup was plug and play, no additional software needed.
Cons: No bluetooth support. Really Logitech? This would have been amazing for use with my Thinkpad.
Logitech has not updated the wired version yet so while this is not really a con on this specific product, it is for the product line.
Overall Review: The old red and black specked ball is the same size as the new blue and works just fine. The red ball seems to track at a lower resolution. The blue ball does NOT work in the old models. This is no reflection either way on the product, just interesting. The blue ball seemed a little rough until I got enough human oil on it to lubricate the contact points. I have found this to be true of the previous models too.
Pros: Good for 3 months at a time
Cons: Random double-clicking, loss of tracking capability, track ball freezes because of sub-quality glides
Overall Review: This is the 3rd M570 that has gone bad. Logitech replaced the previous bad Trackballs and now this one is bad again. They promised a return label and another replacement but nothing showed up. They no longer acknowledge my calls or emails. I have given up on them as a company. Buy something else, this is not the Logitech that you remember...their hardware is junk.
Pros: I love my original Trackman Wheel. Favorite mouse ever. I don't understand why everyone doesn't love it as much as I do. All other computer mice should have been retired by now, antiquated in its wake.
After the final straw of my bluetooth mouse spontaneously losing connection with my laptop, it was like the heavens opened up and dropped this in my lap when I was searching for a replacement. Of course! Why didn't I get one of these a long time ago?!?
I'm 95% happy. See cons.
Cons: I read how it was a bit smaller than the original Trackman Wheel. I'm not a terribly picky guy, I figured it'd be fine. Perhaps even better since it would be my travel mouse. I'm sorry to report this is a distant second to the original Trackman Wheel. It's noticeably smaller and the shape/ergonomics are off. I can't rest my whole hand on it and several times I've caught myself trying to move the whole thing since it's barely larger than your typical mouse.
Overall Review: I still greatly prefer it over a standard mouse, though. You'll note it got 5/5 stars from me. It's just not a 1:1 replacement for the Trackman Wheel, and I let myself expect that.
No regrets, though. I'd purchase again in a heartbeat. The "dongle" is very small, but it still sticks out a good 1/4". I don't feel comfortable packing the laptop away with it in, but no worries - the mouse has a very convenient slot to stow the dongle in.
I also love the low-battery light. And the extra two buttons are nice. One of them works as a browser back button, even though I didn't install any software and did nothing but plug it in. I also like the power toggle switch on the back.
Don't let my seemingly negative review dissuade you, though. The inconveniences listed above are all outweighed, by several factors, by having my old friend along with me on my travels.
