Question 1

Does the USB cable lock into the mouse so it does not disconnect easy if I choose to not use it wireless?

There's no lock on it.  But when the cord is seated in it does require a good deal of force to pull it out.  A tug to reposition the mouse isn't going to do anything.  You would have to give it a solid jerk for it to come loose.  Think of it like an Xbox quick disconnect cord, about that much force.

Question 2

Does this mouse work like normal on a USB 3.0 port? I know some peripherals do not work or do not work to their full advantage if not connected to a USB 2.0 port. Current PC has all 2.0 ports in use so this would have to be connected to my 3.0 port. Just curious how that will do.

USB works universally, the only difference is the speed that data is transferred but that only really comes into play with data transfers from storage devices. The mouse will work regardless.

Does this use a proprietary battery or AA or AAA batteries?

No. It uses a sealed battery so you can't just pop it open and replace it. I've had it for about a year now and haven't had any issues with it holding a charge though. I am trying to be careful to not leave it plugged in overnight to charge though and I only charge it when it's getting low. Basically just use good battery conditioning techniques and you should be fine for years. It is a lithium ion battery if I remember correctly, so it doesn't have any charge memory.

Question 4

Do you have to use the Logitech provided USB cable, or does any cable that fits work?  I want to keep a spare in my laptop bag as a backup.

Any micro-USB cable should work, provided that it doesn't have a overly large surrounding plastic.  The port on the mouse itself is somewhat recessed under a lip; if the cable would happen to be large in a vertical direction (which would be unusual), the micro-USB tip would not be able to be inserted.

Can I use this mouse on 2 computers without reconfiguring settings?

You can save the settings to your mouse or the computer through the given software. When saving to the mouse, your settings will stay the same on every computer you plug it into until you connect it to a computer with the software where you can change them again.

Does this use a propriety battery or AA or AAA batteries?

It uses a rechargable 1000mAH Lithium battery pack. It comes with a USB cable for both charging and to be used as a wired mouse when charging or as needed. I've got 3 of them "one at work, home and for moderate use on an entertainment system". For the one at work I'll have to charge it once every 7-10 days and the two at home depending on use can go between 7 and 14 days. I took one of them to PAX and didn't have to charge it until the last few hours of the last day, this is with constant 10-12hr day use of course.

is it possible to add the large side buttons to both sides? giving you 4 buttons in total on the side for use?

Yes, you can add all 4 buttons on both sides or only have 2 on ether side. It comes with a solid cover when you don't want to use one of the sides if needed.

will this mouse work with a corsair mechanical key board?

yes, this mouse will have no compatibility issues at all with a corsair keyboard. Just remember that if you want to control things like the lighting on the mouse you will need to download logitech's gaming software. The program you would use to control that on your keyboard is only for corsair products.

I like a heavier mouse.  Is this one weight adjustable?

It's a fairly heavy mouse personally at 107g, but no there isn't a way to adjust the weight.

Question 10

I read in the reviews that the thumb button does not work in wireless mode.  Has this issue been resolved?  I use my current mouse thumb buttons now.  So this might be a deal breaker.

The mouse works flawlessly. Ive had it since it came out. Still holds a charge and never had an issue with the inputs.
