Can you use this with a camera tripod? It looks like it won't mount directly, but will it clip somehow to a camera tripod? I need the ability to swivel in all directions as well as move up and down.

No, it cannot be used with a tripod. There is no mounting screw on the camera base for a tripod. There are no clips on the base either the base has a felt on it to hold it in place on the top of a monitor, that's all. The camera can move up and down not left and right.

i haven't receive this yet.  are there no details on the page?  i hope not.  it says 2.0 hd plug and play, im assuming it's good to go.  i'm using windows 10 64.

Price gouging due to high demand and low supply. I ordered a few of these 3 weeks before COVID was declared a pandemic and they were $20. Four weeks later, they were $80+ each.

Can this thing swivel left/right or is it locked facing straight forward?

The C270 will only swivel up an down.  The stand does a good job of hooking over the top of the monitor and then you just need to adjust up or down.  For left or right you would need to stand it an a surface like in the picture and turn the whole unit.  This has been a good unit for the price.

will this webcam be good for recording YouTube gaming commentaries? also, will I have the option to use a different microphone to record sound, instead of using the built in microphone?

Yes this camera is excellent for you tube/ twitch.tv. and you can use whatever microphone you want with your recording program. I use open source for streaming and have the mic on my headset
