I bought this keyboard recently and I was under the impression that I was going to receive a set of red, blue, and brown switches and that I was going to be able to change them to my taste. This keyboard came with just the brown switches. Did I misunderstood the product listing?

I think you misunderstood. The "colors" refer to whether the keys click or not, or provide tactile feedback. Blue==click+tactile, brown==tactile-only. Red==neither. They are soldered on at the factory. Different model numbers: xxx-9860 is blue, while xxx-9862 is brown; don't know about red. (there seem to be different brands that supply these different colors; I don't know which brand logitech is using. A no-name brand based on other reviews. "cherry" seems to be the premium brand)
